THe needle hits the bobbin case. The timing seems to be out about 90 degrees to 9:00. Can you help? Thanks so much. Karen

The bobbin no longer hits the bobbin case and sews a good seam in the sewing mode but in the embroidery mode it still makes a bobbin mess, which is what started the original problem. :>( Also I didn't find the manual for my machine at that link. Thanks

How does one adjust the top thread tension? THe only dial with numbers seems to be the one that has E and S and some numbers. Can this be changed from the E when embroidering? Maybe I do need a manual or just learn that one only gets what one pays for. My friends have much more expensive machines. Thanks for your help. I will post ratings when all done cause I'm not sure if that ends my session or not. So much to learn. Thanks too for your patience. Karen

Hi, your timing can be adjusted. Possibly a gear slipped inside.

One of the four diagrams on this link should help you readjust it.
http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Sewing%20Machine%20Hook%20Timing.htm

You can also get a manual from
http://www.singerco.com/support/parts_charts.html

let me know if you have further questions along the way

good luck

Can you tell if anything is broken (or bent) in the bobbin? Basically the tension is probably off and can only be adjusted by the top thread tension. Just not a good embroidery machine. If you still want a manual, let me know.

Problem with my bobbin case I'm sewing suddenly there clunking, my machine jams, bobbin case flipped 180. took apart, re-adjusted, put everything back and it worked fine, but it keeps happening. Help

Sounds like there are some parts that are worn or broken on your machine. A bobbin, when correctly inserted and latched, should not spin 180 degrees on its own.

Have you tried a brand new needle? Just wondering if it is bent and hitting below the needle plate.

it's very possible that when you broke the needle it caused the machine to go out of time & would have to be retimed at a sewing machine repair shop

Whenever I sew the top thread breaks. The machine seems to sew but then jams when I take the material off the top theard is all cut on the underside of the fabric and the bobbin thread is just there. ...

to see if a needle & thread are compatable, take a strand of the thread your going to use & the needle your going to sew with & put the thread thru the eye of the needle & hold it at a 90 degree angle & see if the needle goes down the thread easily

check the needle plate to see if there's any burrs or sharp edges & the bobbin case also

make sure the top thread does not come off the thread take up lever, cause that can make it jam also

it also possible that the machine could be out of time & would need to be serviced at a repair shop

I have a Confidence 7470 purchased in May 2009. I was sewing tulle today and the thread kept snapping while sewing. I assumed it was catching in the tulle. The last time it snapped, the thread jammed in...

Sounds like your machine is off timing, When the machine is properly timed, you should see the hook passing behind the eye of the needle when the needle is on it's upward stroke. If this is not correct the machine will not pick up the bobbin thread. You may have to take it in for adjusting, unless your a bit machnical.

Needle hits bobbin case

If the needle hits the bobbin case the are only 2 things that could be wrong. Lets hope its the easy one, there are more than one length of needles, if the needle is to long or it is not all the way up in the neelde bar, the needle will hit the inside of the bobbin case. Now if that is not the problem then the machine is out of time. ALWAYS check the easy stuff FIRST.

Needle hits the white plastic where the bobbin case sits.

It may be as simple as you didnt get the needle pushed all the way up in the needle bar. Get new package of needles and try a new needle and make *sure* it goes up as far as you can push it. the reason I suggest a new pkg of needles is if one is bad in the pkg, they are probably all bad. If that doesnt fix it then the needle bar timing/height is off and need to be repaired/adjusted by a tech.

Singer 301A stitch jam

your machine threads from right to left. the needle flat spot faces left. big loopy things means that the upper part of the machine is not threaded properly. as far as the needle hitting the bobbin case, it sounds as if someone removed the hook (part that holds the case) and put it back on 180 degrees off.

Needle hits the bobbin holder and doesn't grab the bobbin thread

Check you have the right size bobbin case the gap where the needle enters should be 13mm approx at the widest point. A lot of other pfaff bobbin cases seem to fit and can be easily be mistaken. I have two pfaffs and have accidentally mixed the cases and had a similar problem.

Needle hits bobbin outer casing

Your hook/needle timing is off and it needs to be seen by a technician before you damage the hook. Some dealers can do a 24 hour repair for an additional charge.
