If it is only the capital (E) and not the lower case (e),
remove the daisywheel (print wheel) and inspect it for damage. Don't worry
about the letters being out of order the machine knows what order they are. You
will likely see one spoke broken off or bent to one side. If so replace the daisywheel.
If both E & e are malfunctioning, the problem is that the
keyboard is malfunctioning. The keyboard is not hard to repair, but it takes
well over an hour to train someone how to disassemble and put it back together again,
so I cannot explain it here. Besides you will (likely) need a conductive pad to
replace the pad under the E/e key.
For your sake I hope it a damaged daisywheel. Best of luck!
