Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional for PC
I have formated my harddisk and tried to istall a new microsoft windows xp professional in my compaq deskpro and i get an error (error loading operating system) how can i go about it?
You are getting this error because you have formatted the harddrive and now your computer cannot find your old copy of Windows.
To install the new copy you have to put the Windows disk in the CD or DVD drawer and restart the computer, when the compter starts (before the no operating system window) you should have options to Enter SetUp. You need to press the appropriate "F" key to enter set up or boot order and tell the machine to boot from the CD.
As it is now your machine is trying to start from the harddrive and its not finding anything, you need it to start from the cd drive so that it can install windows.
