Whrilpool awg 338/3 water wont drain

Hi All,

I have a whrilpoolawg 338/3 and it will not drain, i have checked the filter (and soaked the kitchen floor) and it is clear, so all the water is coming out the filter hole on the front and not going to the outlet pipe on the back, have done a few washes and drained the front during the wash, but there is also a rattle noise coming from it at certain cycle points, is it dead or can it be repaired ? thanks in advance for the help...

    Hi,

I have exactly same problem..Is it because of the belt or something? Can anyone help us please..

We had the same problem, an engineer took a look and determined that the programme cycle has gone. The estimate cost for parts and labour was so high that we're about to toss the machine.

the half load button must be selected before the drier will work.select half load and then turn the knob to the asterix type symbol.turn on and that will hopefully do it.

F2 code is a drain issue. If you are not using he detergent you can cause slow draining and then you will get the code. Try using less detergent. Also, try disconnecting the power to the washer to reset controls.

SOURCE: whirlpool AWM1200 washing machine wont advance at certain stages

there is a little motor in the selector switch that moves the dial around.  This little motor is defective and needs replacement.  Sometimes it's sold separately and sometimes you need the whole timer.

SOURCE: washing machine does not drain during rinse cycle?

Turn timer to rinse cycle. let fill up and agitate. when it stops agitating it should pause then start to pump water out. After about 2 minutes it should pause for 3-5 seconds then start again and spin. If it starts the first time and never stops it will just continue to pump but no spin. The 3-5 second pause allows the transmission to shift to spin. If it does not do this the problem is your timer. You may need to do this a few times to verify the problem.

If that is not the problem it is likely that you need a new clutch. You will need a technician to install a new clutch for you

Awg 345/4 doesnt dry, it gets hot and turns but does not dry the clothes

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and the draining cycle leaving water still inside after spinning.
Here are my complete guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning!

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

See if you can check the operation of the pump by following the relevant parts (in italics) of my (complete) guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

My awg 5122 washes part cycle and then stops and the power and timer light flashes

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

(just in case!)->

Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.

My Whrilpool dishwasher--DU8505SWPQ3, there is always water left on the walls of the dishwasher after a complete cycle is done??? Thanks

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller.
Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Cycle stops and shows error E20. Cylinder hold water and does not drain or complete cycle

Hi,
E20 is a draining error.
Check the filter. You need to take the filter out, empty it of all lint and replace it. It may have water trapped in already, so get a cloth ready to soak up excess liquid! Also, make sure when you put it back in you have tightened it enough to avoid leaking but not too much that you cannot get it back out.

If still the problem persists then the problem is with the draining pump. The pump is not pumping out the water.Check the pump impeller it may got stuck due to some obstacles.Replace it and this wont come again.

Water will not drain after cycles are complete

Start with removing the screws in the bottom of the dishwasher and pull out the filter, etc. Clean everything you remove in a sink and soak in white vinegar anything is coated with minerals.
Inspect closely everything you can now see with a flashlight (watch out for broken glass!) Remove any debris found. Reassemble and test if removing any obstructions found.
If problems continue, run a short cycle and listen closely. When the pump should be running, do you hear the sound/hum of the motor turning (but water is not draining?) If yes, replace the pump motor.
If you hear nothing during the cycle when the dishwasher should be draining, the problem is almost certainly a failure of the timer/controller that controls the pump motor.
Good Luck!
