Question about Bosch Washing Machines

1 Answer

Own a Bosch Exxcel 1400/1200 Express. Cannot remove the pump cap in order to remove loose debris from inside the pump. If I break this in trying to remove it, is there a spare part I can order?

Yes, the cap is available for purchase - just saw one on a website for £7.85.  But you don't need to break it, read on...
Best done on a warm machine but it was freezing cold when I eventually succeeded as follows: Similar to above, spray threads with lots of WD40 /liquid wrench type spray -- although its impact will likely be negligible, it reduces the risk of snapping the cap somewhat. Then use a good quality pair of long handled, adjustable "Water pump pliers" (like this: ). Get pair that provide several grooves that allow you to set the minimum gap allowed. I bought a pair 25 years ago, German made, they have undone numerous things (cars, plumbing, household) where nothing else came close. This is the best tool in the world - period. So don't skimp, get a good pair (not those floppy loose screw types), with flat parallel jaws (a notch for nuts in both jaws is fine). Set the gap on the tool close to the width of the hande/spine of the cap. Carefully place the jaws along the plastic "handle"/spine of the cap and slowly turn, be careful to maintain a firm but not excessive grip -- use the leverage of the long handles if you are not terribly strong. Magnifico! (Found: a plastic clothes label tag & much blue powder/limescale around it). After cleaning, lightly lube the threads with WD40 type spray and reassemble, not too tight - use hand tightness only if you can. Then follow the machine instructions (1 litre of water in chamber II & run the "Drain"-cycle) to flush the pump. Done!

Bosch exxcel 1200 express spinning slowly

I would suggest that you remove the motor, and check the brushes for wear.
If they are less than 3 or 4mm long, then they need to be replaced.
Hope this helps.

Cannot remove pump filter cover -Bosch Exxcel 1400

Before removing the filter have you drained the excess water with the drain hose to the left of the filter? The filter cap should turn around 1/4 to 1/2 turn so the best option is to close it again and then repeatedly try opening it with a little more force each time. The black plastic cage could affect the removal of the filter and once removed if it is damaged you may need to replace it. These are available via most domestic appliance spares stores or directly from Bosch. Once removed check for any black plastic debris in the filter housing and chamber.

Bosch Exxcel 1200 Express Washing Machine spin not working

I had the same problem- machiine not spinning and a few days later not turning at all. Display would go from 11min to 1min.
I did 2 things - 1) changed the brushes on the motor- cost £7.50 .
2) whilst working under the machine disconnected pipe from drum to pump and emptied it- found 2 coins in the bellows.

Bosch Logixx 8 washing machine Powers OFF itself when filling water in the softening stage I have a 7 years old Bosch WAS32742AU/08 washer, it will wash, rinse then will power itself OFF with nothing on the display when it reaches the softening cycle where it begins to fill water, there is about 10mins left in the cycle. I can turn the dial OFF then back to the same program to resume the cycle, it will start filling with water again in the softening stage and power off again. I've checked the water level pressure switch hose and cleaned the chamber, I dont't think there is a problem with that because it works during the cycle until the softening stage. I can run and complete the Drain only cycle, Rinse only cycle, Spin only cycle and 15min Quick cycle without interruptions. It's only programs that has the Softening part of the cycle it powers off when filling water in the middle dispenser compartment during the softening stage where Valve 1 and Value 2 are open. I don't even use softener and the compartment is clean. The current work around is when it Powers OFF during softening, I turn the dial to OFF then select the rinse only cycle to complete the washing. I got into the Valve test mode and found that Value 1 and Valve 2 tests are OK individually but when it V1 and V2 are both ON to fill the middle softener dispenser compartment it wont stop filling and eventually the machine powers off. I posted a video of the test here: https:/ / streamable dot com/n1gw6 https:/ /player dot vimeo dot com/video/264199360 Do you know what the problem could be?
