My 1020 printers green light goes on and red is off even door is open and no print at all, computer says no error

Open "Devices and Printers" in start menu.
Right click printer with green arrow - click see whats printing.
Delete all documents.
Restart computer - then restart printer
See if that clears your error messages.

If red light not working nothing will happen, printer has to print but in your case we can suspect power supply board or formatter.Step 1:Check printer initializing or not, are you find out any difference while initializing? Step 2:Check whether system recognizing the printer or not. If not replace with another formatter then confirm, even its same replace power supply board..

ATTENTION light(triangle): Indicates that the print-cartridge door is open, print cartridge is missing, and other errors.

If ATTENTION and READY light is blinking:

Printer initialization
The printer is initializing.
No action is necessary.

Cleaning mode
A cleaning page is printing.
Wait until the cleaning page has finished and the printer is in the Ready state.
This could take up to two minutes.

If ATTENTION and READY light is on:

Fatal error
Turn off the printer, and then unplug the printer power cord for 30 minutes.
Plug the printer power cord into the power outlet, and then turn the printer on.
If the error persists, replace the printer.

If ATTENTION light is blinking and READY light is off:

1. Attention: door open, no print cartridge, or media jam
   

The printer is in an error state that requires operator intervention.
Check the following:
? The print cartridge door must be completely closed.
? The print cartridge is correctly installed.
? There is no media jam.

2. Out of memoryThe printer is out of memory.
The page you are printing might be too complex for the printer's memory capacity.
Try lowering the resolution.

When I try to print word file on my printer HP Laser Jet 1020 the driver of the printer is always escape. Every once in a week it is happening with me.

try changing the cartridge, after that send a printing test pressioning the green botton.

Green and red light on : ink out error / chip doesn't recognized. If u use SSC, and said "Coomuniaction error", it's normal. Replace ink tank, or use CISS chip.

There are actually some certain meaning on the red light and green light showing different information to user. The summaries are:
1) Green On, Red Off = Printer Ready.
2) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Fast-Flashing = Printer warm up.
3) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Off = Printer off-line.
4) Green Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Processing Data.
5) Green Off, Red On = Cover Opened, Toner Empty or Developer Unit / Drum unit missing.
6) Green Off, Red Fast-Flashing = Paper Jam or waiting for jam reset.
7) Green Off, Red Slow-Flashing = Paper Empty or Paper tray is not inserted.
8) Green Off, Red Off = Printer power is off.
9) Green Very-Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Printer in sleep mode.
10) Green (any condition above), Red Slow-Flashing = Toner low or paper empty.

verify if you are printing with the correct paper size..... long is 8.5 by 13 and not 8.5 by 14.....

or

1. delete the installed driver
2. turn off the printer and let your computer detect the printer.... let it finish
3. restart your computer

my suggestion? get new drivers
