Question about Garmin GPS

3 Answers

The lithium battery to my Garmin Nuvi 350 is giving out. My husband has figured out how to open the case, and I've tracked down replacement batteries on line. The picture of the batteries online looks as though there are two wires coming out of the battery. Does installing it require any soldering or any other tricks that we should know about? Thanks, Linda

No soldering should be required as far as installing the Batteries is concerned. You may find Sockets/Holders, the batteries to be inserted in.

If you can't find out the Holder/Socket, contact Professional Serviceman.

Well when you opened the case did you see any wire connection to battery that is soldering if yes then you need to solder or if there is the wires the replacement battery they are terminals of the battery you need carefully to main board and check the battery wires and then solder it to the board...

Where can I order a new battery for NUVI 805 series/

The nuvi and Garmin Drive series devices do not have user replaceable batteries, with a few exceptions. The exceptions include the nuvi 500 series, 800 series, 805 series, and the nuvi 295W.
A replacement battery for the nuvi 500 series can be purchased on the Garmin website here.
The nuvi 800 & 805 series and the nuvi 295W use a replaceable Lithium-ion battery as well. Although the replacement battery for these devices is no longer available via the Garmin website, you may be able to purchase a replacement through a variety of dealers.
All other nuvi models do not have user replaceable batteries. These devices must be sent in to a Garmin approved repair facilities if a battery issue arises. Garmin International is the only approved repair facility in the United States and Canada. To request a repair for your device through Garmin, contact support.

Our nuvi 350 has been sitting in its box for several months/need it now for a trip and cannot get it to charge. Could it possibly need a battery? Worked fine last time we needed it.

You've most likely correctly diagnosed the fault for yourself.

Lithium rechargeable batteries like the one in your Garmin are damaged if stored uncharged for any length of time, so you'll need to replace the battery. They're not designed to be user-replaceable on most Garmins, but if you search the web for "nuvi 350 battery" you should easily find a supplier and there will be videos to show you how to do it on your model or a closely related model. Click here for one example of an instructional video.

I haven't given you a link to a battery supplier as I don't know which country you're in nor whether you want an original (Garmin) battery, a generic compatible battery or one of the upgrade versions which give longer battery life. Personally, I'd recommend that you avoid the latter type as a new standard capacity battery usually has plenty of life in it when charged.

Good luck and please take a moment to rate my answer.

Garmin Nuvi 350 is fine companion of Travel. it's Lithium Ion battery is sealed into the package and is not normally user serviceable and lasts for on average 3 to 6 hours depending on back light option and replacement requires disassembly.

Changing batterry in nuvi 200

The Nuvi series does not have a User replaceable battery with a few exceptions and your device is shipped with a User non-replaceable battery.

The exceptions include the nuvi 5xx, 8xx and the nuvi 900T. These devices have a replaceable lithium-ion battery.

Garmin nuvi 350 battery replacement

I can't do it for you, but I have done it myself. See the instructions on my webpage at www.dacust.com/nuvi350/index.html. Pictures and everything, along with where I got my battery and the part number, etc. Warning, there are many opportunities to damage your unit doing this. Not for the novice.

How do I replace the battery in my Garmin Nuvi 350 ?

There are two hidden (torx T5) screws underneath where the antenna pivot. You will have to remove the antenna first in order to get to these two torx screws. Then you can use one of those plastic case opener (iPod case opener work great).

Do not try prying the unit apart until you have removed the antenna and the two hidden torx screws, otherwise you will destroy your Nuvi.
