My PS3 keeps displaying a message that says press ok to download the latest update and my PS3 already has the latest update,and when i press ok the screen goes blank. PS, It is also not recondizing my disc when I put them in,

Found this on the GT website:

1. When Gran Turismo 6 is launched while connected to PSN, a message will appear on screen informing the users that "the latest update data for this software has been found (Version 1.03)".
2. Once accepted (by pressing the X button while selecting [OK]), a "Please wait..." message will be displayed. After a few seconds, the PlayStation 3 system will emit 3 acoustic signals and restarts automatically.
3. At this point, some users may receive a message stating that the system was not shut down correctly last time. The system will ask then to perform a system file check and then the reboot is completed.
4. Users will be prompted again to download Update 1.03, whether they received the message in step 3 or not.

To avoid this issue:

1. To avoid this issue, please accept to download the Update by selecting [OK] within 2 seconds of its appearance on screen when prompted. This will update the game properly.
2. If you wait longer than 2 seconds, please decline the Update by pressing the Circle button when the message in step 1 is displayed, then select [Back] in the subsequent "Sign-In to PSN" screen. The game will start, quit the game using the PS button while in the [My Home] screen and follow the procedure described above.

This requires fast fingers and is a "work around" solution only but should fix your issue!

I received this today and first I downloaded the update via the web on your computer to a USB flash drive. Once downloaded create the folders PS3 and the folder UPDATE within PS3. PS3\UPDATE. Move downloaded file into the UPDATE folder. (folders must be in CAPS). Then when the unit is off press and hold the power button until it beeps 3 times. A menu should come up on the screen. Select the option that states update system software (I believe its 6). The unit will update via the flash drive. After that the unit will restart and should be updated and working. 

PS3 has a AACS (Advanced Access Control System) is a copyright-protection technology that is used on Blu-ray Discs. The copyrighted content is protected by setting an encryption key on both the disc and the device used to play the disc.

An AACS encryption key expires in 12 to 18 months and must be renewed, so no matter if you have a new PS3 or using it already make sure you keep upgrading your PS3 firmware regularly.

There are two ways to update as listed below:

* Update via Internet
* Update via Storage Media

Download the update data directly to the system from the Internet. The latest update is automatically downloaded.

Select Settings -> System Update, Download the latest update data from the Internet. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the operation.

You also perform this system update via a storage media, Use update data saved on a disc, Memory Stick™ or other media. Download the update data from a Web site using a PC

ok jump on google and type in latest update for ps3, download the update and copy it to a flash drive i.e usb stick and then type into google how to perform ps3 update with flash drive and select the search result that is posted by sony and it will guide you through the rest hope this helped

perhaps your ps3 need a firmware update...enter in sony official website and download your ps3 latest firmware...check if your ps3 hdd is ok...bad hdd´s can cause game freeze...

Download the update data.

If a new version of the system software is found, an update is necessary. Press the (X)button to start downloading the update data.Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the update.

WARNING:

• Do not turn off the PS3™ system during an update. If anupdate is cancelled before completion, the system software may becomedamaged, and the system may require servicing or exchange.
• During an update, the power button on the system front and PS button of the controller are inactive.

Hello!!
Ok, no matter how you try to install the firmware it will always write it to the hard drive first before install. Now if it gives you the 800 error while downloading it's your hard drive and it may need to be re-formatted or replaced. If you get an error during installation, then therewas a misplaced piece of code during the download and it needs to be downloaded again.

BTW, the power button default reset is ONLY for the Video output settings.

I reset my ps3. 3 to 4 times. Then i got a message, my harddrive is corrupted. Press PS button on pad to begin to the fix problem. I did this 3 times and was suprised to c it kick back into action. haray.

Ps3 supports over 1000 ps1 and ps2 titles. Make sure you hook your ps3 up to the internet and download the latest firmware updates. Odds are your system will be able to play all or most of your ps2 games once you update the ps3 online.
