I've been through the manual from cover to cover and there is no diagram showing the anti-flood device.

Thanks for the suggested solution - all four copies of it! - the problem seems to have been solved, though I'm not exactly sure that we identified the microswitch itself; maybe by moving the appliance and prodding the polystyrene insert we re-instated the anti-flood device. Thanks.

Tipped the machine up to empty out the water in the tank (there was very little in there), and with it tipped at 30 degrees onto its rear feet there is a plastic cover over the base which levers off with a screwdriver , the float switch is then exposed (it's a polysterene cylinder with a microswitch).

Hope that helps.............

    Alarm E1

The system which limits the water level inside the dishwasher (Safety
Level) has been tripped. Since this might be a temporary fault, try
    reprogramming the machine
. If the problem persists, call the after
sales service. Taken from the manual

I just bought a dishwasher SE34E200SK. The washing program always gets stuck in program 3 and it cant move further unless one has to turn it manually. Also it doesnot empty out the waste water after...

Hello

Most faults can be referred to the fact that the Anti Flood Overflow device has activated.

Modern day dishwashers like those manufactured that have a built in safety feature protecting the dishwasher against flooding. The technical term is 'Anti Flood Device'.

In the base of the dishwasher in the plinth there is a float switch. This is your 'Anti Flood Device'. In the event of your dishwasher over filling, the plinth fills with water, the float rises and actuates the switch.

Firstly, it will send a signal to the programmer device to notify there is a fault and output a message in the form of a code to some sort of display.

Secondly, the pressure switch acts as the water level indicator for the sump of the dishwasher so when the water level rises the pressure switch will activate the drain pump.

So before you consider throwing good money at new dishwasher, try doing a bit of fault finding your self and you might save yourself a ton of money.

I have an LG dishwasher, Model LD-2120WH and lately it starts" -- water goes in but it throws up a E1 message on the display screen, send off an alarm and stops

I've just solved the same problem on my 2120. It started when the pump motor bearing failed and continued after I'd replaced the bearing. According to my handbook the E1 fault is theoretically a water leak but practically it is that the pump is not delivering enough water. In this case the failed bearing had allowed the shaft to wobble about and damage either the rotor or the inside of the pump (it's sealed so you can't strip it). Solution was to replace the pump.

Machine not starting ...Programme Progress Display light flashing

This normaly indicates an error code. Could be the anti flood device activated due to water leaks etc. The anti flood device (polystireene float and micro switch at base of machiene) puts the washer on pump out mode and shuts off the inlet water. Dry the water at the floor of the washer and check and rectify any leaks.

Anti flood device has activated on my zanussi ZDF231,also there is quite aloud whirring sound ,like a motor struggling to work

The anti flood activates when water (even a small amount) appears on the bottom of the machiene. This is usualy a leaking pipe but can also be caused by a clogged pipe. Most machiens do have a plastic pipe that (from the flat water tank) feeds water to the bottom of the machiene in case of an internal fault. The anti flood is normaly a polystireen float with micro switch on the base of the washer. This automatically puts the outlet pump on to drain the water.

The fault is that the anti flood device is activating, you have a leak somewhere in the base of machine. Regards Engineer
