Working under Vista, SP2, but can't find driver for HP Scanjet 4470c. Should be A answer to the problem ??????

Dear All,
HP Company simply doesnt respect customer indeed. They simply didnt publish solution on their website. Drivers work fine under Windows 7. The scanning utility is outdate, but it is easily possible to upgrade it to VueScan utility. After this upgrade - all scanning features (preview, scan, glass, transparency) works fine. Maximum resolution is 1200 dpi which is more than enough for any reflective scan! VueScan costs money but if someone needs one for free may use google.

There is no full feature software for this scanner for win Vista, as its an old model, which is no longer supported.Vista should have basic feature driver inbuilt, so You just have to connect this scanner per USB and plug&play will recognise the proper driver if present. this would allow You to scan with WIA driver (scan assistent). connect the scanner to PC and after few seconds check in device manager (windows button + pause/break --> hardware --> device manager) if there is Your scanner listed as imaging device. if its listed as unknown then please clicks with right mouse button and update the driver.there will be no official TWAIN drivers for this one and I would not advice to download any third-party drivers from other websties.

I succeeded to run my Scanjet 4470c under w7 32-bit Ultimate this way :
Do not connect scanner .
Load XP driver ( yes , XP) , reboot , connect scanner and wait for confirmation of successfull operation .
Reboot .
Dowload and install FreeKapture ( yes , it's free ) from http://download.cnet.com/FreeKapture/3000-2094_4-10673689.html
Open Freekature , clic on Scan and select WIA-Hewlett-Packard . Scanjet 4470c works fine in this mode but if you choose HP PrecisionScan Pro , program will hang .
In any case , no slides or negatives scans possible but the rest works .

There is no driver for the scanjet 4470c that works with my Vista system on my Toshiba laptop.
Hi ,
Vista or W7 , it's the same problem : there are no more drivers for Scanjet 4470c .
I find a way though , to make the mine work in WIA mode under W7 32-Bit Ultimate . Should work with Vista too .
Make first sure driver XP ( yes , XP ) is correctly installed .
Now , download and install Freekapture ( it's free ) from :http://download.cnet.com/FreeKapture/3000-2094_4-10673689.html
Load Freekapture , clic on Scan and select WIA-Hewlett-Packard . Scanner works fine in this mode but if you choose HP PrecisionScan Pro , program will freeze .
In any case , no slides or negatives scans possible but the rest works . As for the buttons , only power button will respond .

I checked the HP website - probably just like you did. They do not have drivers for the Scanjet 4470c. Looks like time to get a new scanner... You can list the current model on craigslist - maybe someone would be interested in it themselves.

Doesn't work
Scanjet 4470c does'nt work under Vista nor W 7 . No drivers available .
Here are a few hints :
1° hint :
Do not connect scanner .

Otherwise , you will have to buy a new scanner , what you probably allready have .

Can I download a driverfor my hp Scanner 4470c for my lap top Vista system?
HP doesn't list one for Vista but the one for XP usually will work just fine. Go here....

HP Scanjet 4470c compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.1
You will not find drivers for this old scanner. Sorry but this scanner is not compatible with Tiger, Leopard, or Snow Leopard, and HP offers no drivers other than for OSx 8.0 & 9.0 which are 10 years old. Time to purchase a new scanner.

If you can get the software onto your computer, try right clicking on the scanner program--properties--compatability tab--check "run this program in Xp compatability". Worked for me in Vista

Need drivers for a hp scanjet 4470c running on vista
I used to work for HP and called one of the technicians there. Unfortunately there really isn't a solution for this. HP doesn't have a driver to run this unit on Vista. They do however have a program to upgrade or trade in this unit for a new one that does run on Vista.
