I have a Hp Pavilion 733b with chipset 845g, i have 1gb of ram but just recognise 256mb

Product: HP Pavilion 733b Desktop PC

Motherboard: FIC VG31

Motherboard specifications;

Memory Type: DDR Sdram
Memory Speed: DDR Sdram at 266MegaHertz, or 200MHz
(PC2100, and PC1600, respectively)

Memory Sockets: Two. For Dual Inline Memory Module/s.
Maximum Memory: -> Maximum TOTAL Amount for motherboard.
2GB.
Maximum Amount for EACH ram memory slot: 1GB

So far looks good, BUT;

1) Is the Ram Memory Non-ECC?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECC_memory

2) Un-Buffered? (Un-Registered)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unbuffered_memory

3) Voltage: Does it use 2.5 Volts?

JEDEC standard for DDR Sdram ram memory voltage is 2.5 Volts (DC)
FIC is going to set the ram memory default voltage at 2.5 Volts.

Point? DDR Sdram at 2.6 Volts, or higher, may not work.
Betting the motherboard doesn't have SPD, and the ram memory may not either.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_presence_detect

4) Ram Memory frequency rate:
What frequency rate of ram memory are you using?
(Excuse me,...'Speed')

The Intel 82845G Northbridge chip, will only support DDR Sdram at a -> Maximum <- frequency rate, of 266Megahertz. (266MHz),

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

I have seen websites offering DDR Sdram at 400MHz for this board.
Maybe there is a BIOS update, I don't know. But going with the standard BIOS program that is installed, and info for the Intel 845G support, I would say this = No.

Processor Front Side Bus (FSB) support is either 400MHz, or 533MHz.
Ram memory typically operates at HALF of the Processor's FSB.

That would be 200MHz (PC1600), or 266MHz (PC2100), respectively.

[Half of 533 = 266.5
It's just rounded down to 266 ]

Can you read a manufacturer's label on the ram memory modules?
If so post what you see in a Comment.

Regards,
joecoolvette

[Sometimes when upgrading ram memory, it may take you to turn the computer completely off, and wait 1 minute. Then turn it on, and let it run for a couple of minutes, then turn it off. Wait 1 minute, turn it back on.

IF, the motherboard does have SPD, and IF, the Ram Memory has SPD, it may take a couple of 'Cold Boots', for BIOS to recognize the Ram Memory.

Some of the old mobo's were just like that.

Intel r pentium 4 82845g sound driver for windows 7

Hi

It seems the chipset is Intel 845G

You can try with the audio drivers for the other Intel D845G motherboards and see which one works fine. Link: http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/archive.htm ( Expand the Intel 845 Chipset Based link and you will find the other 845G intel boards)

Can I increase the RAM from 504 to 1008 on my D310m/845G?

Yes you can increase the RAM of your motherboard. It contains two DIMM slots, but can only be upgraded to a maximum of 2-GB ( max of 1GB on each slot.) The slots support DDR Synch Dram PC2100 (266-MHz) and DDR Synch Dram PC1600 (200-MHz) Non-ECC Memory only.

    Vista compatiable

intel doesnt list any vista drivers for that motherboard on there site so you might run into problems with the intergraded devices such as the ethernet, audio, chipset, & any intergraded video

You might be able to use the xp drivers but if theres problems it wouldnt be supported by intel

Is there any problem in using a 1GB DDR with 400MHz speed in Intel D845GVSR board?

Since Intel says that this board will support DDR with 200/266/333 MHz speeds only. There should not be problem with your board more so that it works fine.

    Dear Daddimone4

The MoBos you are looking at will work fine if they are all ATX like your old one. BUT, check the boads for Socket matching with your processor, and also check see if they are AUTO processor speed detect or Manual.

If your operating system is NTFS platform like XP, you will need to EITHER reinstall the OS, or chose REPAIR options to replace just windows and updated BIOS files without messing up your generic documents. If you have non NTFS OS like Win 98, It will only ask for updated BoMo drivers. If you need more help with that part, just POST.

Ram support for intel 845 motherboard

Ok. So you've defined the Intel 845 chipset on your motherboard.

But is it the 845 or 845G chipset?

Click HERE for the specifications of the Intel 845 chipset.

Click HERE for the specifications of the Intel 845G chipset.

    Peepnklown is only HALF right.

The Intel 845 chipset does NOT support PC133 memory.

The Intel 845G chipset DOES support both DDR and PC133 memory.

    The difference?

The 845 has a single memory controller for DDR memory.

The 845G has two memory controllers. One for DDR and one for PC133.

Although you're going to need DDR memory as it is FASTER and less expensive than the older PC133 memory. (Believe it or not.)

I do NOT recommend using Corsair's ValuSelect memory on this chipset. I have two boards with the 845G chipset and that type of memory does not allow the board to boot.

These boards typically come with DDR266 (PC2100) modules installed.

I would go ahead and buy DDR333 (PC2700) memory for it. The board you have may not utilize the full speed of that memory, but will use tighter memory timings if the RAM is clocked down by the board. This will result in better efficiency of memory use by the processor.

Think of it as giving the motherboard "breathing room".

I could recommend PNY memory for the most basic compatability. (Not that they manufacture their own RAM modules...) Or perhaps Nanya, Infineon or Microtek.

Look for memory compatability lists for your particular motherboard module online. You could also use PNY's memory configurator on their website.

Click HERE for PNY's memory configurator.

    Good luck.

Intel ASUS P4 845 GL Motherboard

Hi, For an ASUS P4BGL-VM Intel 845GL Chipset Ultra ATA100 MATX CPU Type: Intel Pentium 4 478-Pin (OEM), the Asus site specifies max of 2 x 184-pin DIMM Sockets support max. 2GB PC2100 / PC1600 non-ECC DDR or SDRAM memory but not "and". Personally, I find it more practical to install 2 X 1Gb rather than a single 2Gb. Hope this gives you some idea. Kind regards.
