Question about Peg Perego Toys

1 Answer

We have a Peg Perego John Deere Buck 4-wheeler that will no go. I thought maybe the battery was bad so I replaced it with a fully charged new one and it moved about 300 feet and then wouldn't do anything when the pedal was pushed. When I plugged the battery back into charger, the light quickly went to green indicating a full charge. I checked for any loose connections but everything looks ok. What now???? Please help. Thanks!

Try jumpering the battery directly to the motors to see if the motors spin, if they don't then replace the motors as needed, if they do spin, then use a multimeter and check for 12 volts at the motor wires when the accelerator is pressed, if its showing no volts then work your way back to the shifter switch and check for volts, then to the foot pedal to find where the power isn't getting through then replace components as needed

SOURCE: 4 wheeler by peg perego

its most likely bad. put the leads from a test light on the terminals of the motor and press the pedal. If the light DOES turn on, you have a bad motor, or at least bad brushes in the motor. Most likely, the light will not come on, and you should check all the wiring for loose connections or faults going from motor to the pedal switch, and from battery to switch. The switch should be a momentary contact switch, and cheap universal replacements can be found at hardware stores, auto parts stores(NAPA is your best bet), and radio shack. Bring the switch with you to the store! Also, use the test light on the wiring coming off the switch going to the motor right at the switch. If the light comes on, and the switch is good, that'll tell you that the wiring from the switch to the motor is faulty somewhere.

SOURCE: Peg Perego Polaris 4 wheeler, won't move

May need battery or is just rusted!
I'd buy a can or two of WD 40 or similiar lubricant and spray it all over all the rusted metal I can get to then turn the wheels by hand as much as possible but that's just me!
Good Luck!

It is most likely the Gearbox, it is easy to find and easy to replace. It is right under the gear shifter and is a "harness" with wires that will need replaced, if you call the tech support for Peg Perego they are very helpful and will get you on the right track. Your old battery is most likely fine, but keep it until you fix the gearbox switch. Afterward (when gator is again operational) I would imagine you could return the new battery since you really should not need it. Peg Perego support is 1800-728-2108 and you can also look for parts at www.mypegperegoparts.com

Peg-perego John Deere buck EXT reads fully charged, but won't go.

I would replace the high/low switch and the reverse switch.
You can get the peg perego parts at http://www.shopjandl.com/
but I would first check the connections on the motors and foot switch. Sometimes they come loose.
Hope this helps
