The closest match from Athlon X2 family for the 215 is 7750 or 7750 Black edition. You would be better off checking out the motherboard manufacturers website to see what processors are compatible with your motherboard.

OK, well, as the X2 215 is a AM3 socket, just about any AM3 socket processor should work.

  • chaneybear1 Apr 11, 2011

Thank you for the reply. Is the difference in processor speed going to be an issue?

  • Clive Gray Apr 11, 2011

shouldn't be, according to the specs, your 215 is the slowest of this range so any other one you choose should (in theory) be faster

  • chaneybear1 Apr 11, 2011

Just to make sure I am understanding you accurately, you are saying that I would only have a problem if the processor were slower than what I have (X2 215)?

  • Clive Gray Apr 11, 2011

sorry if I confused you. you will definitely have problems if you don't choose an AM3 socket processor as it will not physically fit!

you will not have problems if you fit a slower AM3 socket processor (not sure how you will achieve this as yours is the slowest of the range).

just make sure that you replace your AM3 socket processor with an AM3 socket processor.

I am looking at the AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ADX250OCGMBOX, and I just want to make sure that going from the 215 (2.7 GHz) to this 3.0 GHz wil not be an issue. From your statement, I shouldn't have any issues, as this is also a AM3 socket part.

  • Clive Gray Apr 11, 2011

    apart from the 215 you can fit the 220, 240, 245, 250, 255, 260 and 265 as a direct replacement according to amd.http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/p...

  • chaneybear1 Apr 11, 2011

Thank you very much. I was finding it almost impossible to get the 215 (the computer is only 1 year old too!). Several of the ones listed should be easy. Again, Thanx.

    no problem

I want to upgrade my core2duo processor to i5 or i7, is it compatible to my motherboard a6252d

Hi rlcaralde,

Your motherboard will not support intel i5 or i7 processor .
Reason:-
In this motherboard socket 775 is used. It only support intel Pentium 4, Core2due etc..

So, if you want to add i5 or i7 processor you need to by new motherboard.

Thanks.

What type of motherboard do you have?

You will first need to get that information to find out what types of CPU's your motherboard will support before buying one that might not.
