When I use the printer to scan via the document feeder, I get two parrallel lines down the right hand side of each page of the pdf. I've cleaned the glass and everything else but still get the lines....

Open the scanner cover and you will see two glasses. One long and thin and the other larger than an A4 sheet of paper. The long thin glass is used to scan thru the adf and the larger glass is for flatbed scanning.
As your lines are from the adf scanning, you will see tippex on the long thin glass. just clean it off and all will be well. Clean the flatbed glass as well while you are doing the job on the adf glass.

I have a smudge on the right side of paper when printing on my lexmark E250dn printer. How can Iget rid of this smudge?

You have a mark on the drum. Find the drum cartridge and rotate the drum by the gear until you find a mark on the surface of the drum. You can try wipe it off with a very soft dry cloth but it is unlikely that this will be a cure and you will probably have replace the drum cartridge (+ $70). Do not try to clean it with any solvents or polishing material.

HP CP2025 Heavy smears of magenta appear down the right-hand side of paper. Have tried restart and changing paper weight.

It is due to spilled magenta toner leaking from side to the toner cartridge. Take the cartridge out of the printer and clean it. Clean visible inside of the printer. Shake the cartridge lightly in horizontal position to evenly distribute the toner inside the cartridge and put it back. The issue sould be fixed after some prints.

Good Luck!

Check error

Try the following steps

1. Unplug power
2. USING THE FINGER HOLDS ON EITHER SIDE, lock scanner cover into open position
DO NOT TOUCH THE ENCODER STRIP (clear plastic strip in front of the white vinyl band)
3. Remove jammed paper/foreign objects (check under the print head; if the print head is in the middle, slide it to the either the left or the right side, & check for paper scraps underneath the print head)
[IF WHEN THE SCANNER COVER WAS OPENED, THE PRINT HEAD IS ON THE LEFT SIDE]
4. Move the print head to the middle
5. With the print head in the middle, remove any ripped paper/foreign objects from the left corner (SINCE THE RIPPED PAPER COULD BE VERY SMALL, USE A FLASHLIGHT TO INSPECT)
6. Close the scanner cover & plug the machine back into the power outlet
[PERSISTENCE OF THIS ERROR MESSAGE OR NO PAPER SCRAPS/FOREIGN OBJECTS FOUND MEANS THAT THE ENCODER STRIP WILL REQUIRE CLEANING]
[IF WHEN THE SCANNER COVER WAS OPENED, THE PRINT HEAD IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE]
7. Plug the power cord back into the power outlet...LCD will show "Cover is Open"
8. Press Stop/Exit for approximately 5 seconds until the print head moves to the middle
9. UNPLUG MACHINE FROM POWER OUTLET
10. USE A FLASHLIGHT & TWEEZERS TO INSPECT: Remove any debris from the right corner
11. USING THE FINGER HOLDS ON EITHER SIDE, close scanner cover & plug machine into power outlet
[PERSISTENCE OF THIS ERROR MESSAGE OR NO PAPER SCRAPS/FOREIGN OBJECTS FOUND MEANS THAT THE ENCODER STRIP WILL REQUIRE CLEANING]

TO CLEAN THE ENCODER STRIP... (clear plastic strip in front of the white vinyl band)
[Markings & debris can adhere on the surface of encoder strip FROM HAND CONTACT &/OR GREASE CONTACT INCURRED FROM REMOVAL OF JAMMED PAPER]
DO NOT USE FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCES NOR ANY TYPE OF SPRAY TO CLEAN INSIDE/OUTSIDE MACHINE
1. Unplug machine from power outlet
2. USING THE FINGER HOLDS ON EITHER SIDE, lock scanner cover into open position
3. Clean both sides of encoder WITH ONLY A DRY, LINT-FREE CLOTH
DO NOT FORCEFULLY PULL ON ENCODER STRIP
DO NOT TOUCH ENCODER STRIP WITH BARE HANDS
DO NOT FORCEFULLY SCRUB ENCODER STRIP (THAT COULD SCRATCH ITS SURFACE)
4. Clean encoder strip from right to left--stopping just before the left corner
5. Clean encoder strip from left to right--stopping just before the right corner
6. Repeat steps 5 & 6 two or three times to clean thoroughly
7. After cleaning encoder strip, USE FINGER HOLDS TO close scanner cover
8. Plug machine back into power outlet.

The printed pages have pink blotches on the right hand side of the paper and horizontal pink blotches down the page

Try cleaning the color or magenta cartridge with rubbing alcohol and look inside the printer to see if there's pooled ink anywhere that is smearing on the paper. Try replacing the print head or cartridge.

White scratches and a "breaking" mark on printout

Epson CX11NF printer problem-repair solved

To clear stripe....Open the front cover and look on the inside of the right side of the printer....There you will see a pictorial instruction showing the PRINTER HEAD cleaning procedures.

Follow them (remove tab/plug on right side, pull out on head lock arm on inside right, then fully pull out the printer head arm inside the port on the (outside of printer) right side.....Then push it back in, replace tab cover, push the lock back in (inside right-front) and problem solved.....

God Bless,

Happy Epson CX11NF User

Thick marks on photo paper

Hi,
You don't say whether the mark is a dent/dinge in the paper or whether it is a dirty or inky mark. If it is one of the rollers pressing and making a dinge in the paper you need to check for flat spots on the rollers. Do check all the rollers as the problem may be caused by another roller not gripping properly or the feed rolls being twisted therefore the one where the dinge occurs is over compensating. You can get rid of small flat spots or shiny bits on the roller by GENTLY roughening the roller feed wheels with a fine emery board. This will also clean off any dirty marks on the roller. You can clean dirty marks off the rollers with a non-lint cloth/specialist wipe. (I use baby wipes). Make sure you get rid of all the dust, as this will cause more marks. Clean the platten glass, again with a glass wipe or windowlene to get rid of any marks there. It is also worth taking out the catridges and wiping the ink surfaces. I use kitchen roll and the a baby wipe. Do test the baby wipe first to make sure that it does not damage the printer. If it is possible without taking the printer to pieces wipe the cartridge feed bars. I use a oil based specialist wipe fro this. Another thing that could cause the symptom that you describe is a piece of debris/stuck paper in the feed path. So check that the path is completely clear. You would be amazed at the impact of even a tiny scrap of paper stuck can have.
If you printer has a clean cartridge utility, do that for both cartidges and run the alignment routine before using the printer again. Print a test page to check that you have got rid of all the marks.
Good Luck Please send me feedback so that I know that this fixed the problem.
