First of all, i'm sorry to hear your laptop got formatted.
The message that you encountered means that the Operating System (or Windows) on your computer got wiped out as well as all the files in it because of the formatting that you've done.
All you need to do is reinstall Windows on the laptop. If this is a Dell laptop, I believe that it came with a Windows CD. you could use that to reinstall Windows on your laptop. If you have further questions, feel free to comment on this post. Another option would be contacting Dell technical support regarding this concern.

Hope this would help!

Hello, try these steps to fix the problem.

  • Insert your Windows 7 DVD into your optical drive(DVD drive) and restart the system.
  • Boot using this DVD by pressing any key when windows asks "Press any key to continue..".
  • Select your language in the first screen and click "Next".
  • In this Window, select the option named "Repair your computer".
  • This tool will search for the installation directory for a minute.Once it finished, click "Next" once again.
  • Under Recovery Tool, choose the option named "Startup repair". Now,Windows will try to repair your startup problem and gives a message to restart your system.
  • Restart your system to finish the process.
Hope this helps!

Instructions
things you'll need: vista or Win 7 DVD installation
1. Insert Win 7 installation DVD and boot from DVD drive. While in some older systems you may have to change boot order through system BIOS, most newer systems allow booting from DVD without changing boot order by simply clicking on any key when prompted to doing so.
Choose your default "Language", "Time", and "keyboard Input" on the first window and click next.
You're now presented with 3 choices.
Click on "Repair Your Computer" to gain access to the System Recovery window. Now choose "Command Prompt" in order to run the desired utility which is called "bootsect.exe".
Bootsect is located inside the boot folder so change your directory to boot.this "boot" folder is present in the the partition which contain windows installation. normally in c: drive. that is is c:\boot\
Now run "bootsect /nt60 C:\" if you had Win 7 initially installed in the C partition.
Alternatively, you can run "bootsect /nt60 SYS" or "bootsect /nt60 ALL" to repair the system partition or all partitions.
Eject the DVD, and restart computer. Your computer should now boot Win 7 again.
good luck

Why my laptop(dell inspiron 1464) stuck while working? with continuous sound & displays one color for whole display. can't do anything except pressing power off button. Pls help me regarding this.

First check that your memory ( RAM) are firmly seated.Press on the memory sticks to make sure they have good contact.
Also The issue could be related with the operating system, as for instance in some cases the OS causes computer turns on, and turns off again. what I can suggest is that you re install the operating system again, or reboot computer to the factory defaults from the rescue CDs that you made. If the problem still exists , then there must be some hardware issue. In which I recommend you contact Dell support.

Dell inspirion 6000 is showing "loading PBR2.....done. NTLDR IS MISSING.HOW TO FIX

Use the Restoration Disk. When asked choose Repair.
(Non-Destructive Installation)

You are missing basic Windows files. Boot loader files.
Also you may have to prepare to replace the harddrive. May have bad Sectors on it.
Means I would copy off all personal information, after getting that laptop going again, or you may lose it.

When turning on my laptop (DELL Inspiron 1545) the set up starts until I get the message 'BOOMTRG is missing, Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart'. Along with this, there is a yellow flashing light

This is an error message your operating system boot manager file is corrupted or missing. A clean re-install may solve the issue. Sometimes you need to format the entire HDD to install the OS. Remove the HDD from the drive bay and connect it to another pc using an external 2.5" case via usb cable and select that HDD from computer and rightclick then format. Select ntfs if needed. Untick the quick format and click OK. it takes a while to finish. After format complete remove the HDD and refit it in your laptop and re-install OS as usual. Hope this helps.

Can I format the harddrive on my dell inspiron 1464 and reinstallation win 7 with the DVD... If Yes how can format the harddrive from at the command prompt. please help thanks.

Hi
To set you computer back to factory fresh settings you will need to format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system and the drivers.
You will need your NEW Operating System disc or you will need to have the CD's that either you made when you got your computer or if your lucky you got the CD's that the factory furnished with the computer at the time you bought it.
If you do not have those CDs/DVDs then go the website of the computer manufacturer and search the website for "Recovery Discs", if they are not available
there you might locate them on Ebay.
1.Format the hard drive:
You do this by double left clicking on "My Computer",then double left click the main drive (normally C drive).
When the window pops open, you will choose "Format"
Keep in mind that once you format your hard drive you will loose all your files, programs, pictures, etc that you installed since the computer was new.
So make your back up on a portable hard drive, thumb drive, etc.
2. Once the formatting of the hard drive is complete you will need to reinstall the operating system along with the drivers.
Install the first disc and start the program.
That will bring your computer back to factory new condition as far as operating is concerned.

I formatted the harddrive of a Dell Inspirion 530. It says BOOTMGR missing on the main screen so I put in the VISTA OS disc and it won't read it, and acts like it's not even in the computer.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd530/en/OM/PDF/om_en.pdf

Hi, go to the above dell website and go to page 192.
It sounds like to me you need to change the boot order in your bios. Follow this instructions and put your cd/dvd drive at the top of the list, then it should run the vista install disk.
Hope this helps

My dell optiplex gx520 has detected sata hdd on bios but cannot boot. i have been compare the hdd to another dell cpu and its work.

the reason why windows won't reconize it as a boot drive is because you have to format the harddrive to NTFS. You have to connect it as a secondary drive on another machine and format it. To do this you have to
click on start, right click on 'computer' and click on 'manage'. Once on 'computer management' click on 'disk management' and select the disk you want to format, right click on it can click 'format'.
Hope this helps.

Dell inspiron 1440.boot mngr missing.askin to press ctrn+alt+dele. nothin happenin at all by pressing.

Hi sriyan1724,

If the Computer is displaying the "Boot MGR Missing" error message, the issue may be due to corrupted or missing Operating System files. In this case, you will need to repair the Operating System in the Computer to fix the issue.

I would suggest that you insert the Operating System installation Disc into the CD/DVD Drive, restart the Computer and the select the "Repair your Computer" option to repair the Operating System.

Please make sure that you are selecting the "Repair Your Computer" option to repair the Operating System in the Computer. Re-installing the Operating System will erase the data in the Hard Drive. Hence, double check that you are doing a "Repair".

Please let me know if you have any questions or require any further assistance.

Good Luck!

Thanks for using FixYa.
