Question about MSI FX600-003US 15.6 LED Notebook - Core i3 i3-350M 2.26 GHz - Metallic Gray, Black 1366 x 768 WXGA ...

Hey my webcam is not working. MY model is an MSI FX 600. For some reason, the webcam is no longer detected by Windows 7. I use the FN+F6 button to enable/disable the camera, and the picture on the bottom right shows up fine (showing the camera is on / off). In windows device manager, whenever the camera is enabled, an extra "USB Composite Device" appears, when I FN+F6 to turn the camera off, the "USB Compositie Device" dissapears. So it would seem like it *should* be working? Now when it's enabled, nothing detects it. When I load ArcSoft Webcam Companion (came with the laptop), there is a "connect" option in the program. I tried that, but it also says no webcam detected. Skype and MSN Messenger do not detect the web camera either

It sounds as if the drivers were uninstalled or became corrupted in some way.
The problem is that the drivers for this webcam are not downloaded separately but are native to Windows 7.

Try this solution and post back if it worked or not. If it doesn't work, I will attempt to help you further.

1. Turn on the webcam via the FN+F6 keys.

2. Press Win+R to open the Run command.

3. Type "devmgmt.msc into the dialog box and press enter to open Device Manager.

4. Find the extra "USB Composite Device" and right click on it.

5. Select "Update Driver" and click "Search automatically for updated driver software".

Windows should find the appropriate driver and install it. If it doesn't, then post back here and I will help you further.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

Msi webcam was working and now is saying cannot detect when trying to use it

When activating the camera with fn+F6, have you tried looking in the "Device Manager" to see if Windows recognises it ? It could be a driver problem, but just as well a broken cable in the screen hinge.

How do I get my built in webcam on a msi laptop to work ??

I had the same problem.. if you hold down Fn ( button at the bottom left coner ) and F6 together it should detect the webcam.
And later if don't find the webcam icon, click on the icon named- Q-Face that should help you!

MSI U100 :S

I believe holding down the Fn button (on the bottom left of the keyboard) and F6 turns the webcam off and on. If it is off, it won't be seen by windows at all. Just hit Fn and F6 at the same time and you should be all set. The F6 key even has a small picture of what should be a webcam.

Good luck!

How does the msi u123 webcam work? i've tried the Fn button to start up the webcam but nothing happens.

Hello friend,
First you should press "Fn+F6" to turn on the camera, and then use the MSI software "Easy Face Manager" to display the camera locally or you can use one of the IM software like msn, skype ... to share camera with your friends.
Best Regards,
