Remove hard drive for hp pavilion s3220n

Pretty simple. Just dismantle the case of your desk top. most of them will split open so you can leave it standing . There will be about 6 to 8 screws holding this together and a few "snap" type connections that pull apart. Remove the base first. Once inside identify the hard drive. unplug it and remove. Probably two screws holding it in place. Reverse process for installing new one.

Can I get a new mother board for my HP Pavilion Slimline s5120f computer, so I can reinstall my old hard drive with out losing my software.

Yes you can install a hard drive on any computer as long as it has the same power and data connections and plugs.

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source. Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards If your current hard drive is on the fritz, or you have an older drive with data you need to retrieve, it's a fairly short process to swap out an existing drive with an old unit lying around the house. To replace the hard drive you need to be comfortable taking apart your computer and working inside its case. The hard drive is located in the series of metal drive bays located underneath the computer's side access panel.

Shut down your computer's operating system. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the computer case and unplug any other cables, such as for the monitor and mouse. Set the computer case gently on its side on a stable work area such as a desk or table. Check the far left end of the case to determine if the side access panel uses screws or a release button. Remove the two screws with a Phillips screwdriver, if they are present. Instead press in the plastic release button, if one is present. Push down the side panel and slide it off the computer. With some models you may need to instead lift the panel to the right until it locks at 90 degrees. Check the metal drive bays near the front end of the case and locate the one containing the rectangular metal hard drive. Unplug the data cable and the power cable from the ports on the back end of the hard drive. Remove the screws holding the hard drive to the metal drive bay. Set the screws aside in a container so they don't become lost. Grip the back of the current hard drive and slide it out of the drive bay. Slide the old hard drive you want to use into the drive bay, and ensure the power and data cable ports are facing into the computer's case. Plug the power and data cables you removed earlier into the corresponding ports on the back end of the old hard drive. Replace the screws removed earlier to hold the old hard drive to the metal drive bay. Replace the computer's side access panel and tighten the screws in place, if it used them. Reconnect the computer's power cable and the other cables you removed earlier. Press the computer's power button. Hope this helps.

How do I remove the harddrive from the HP Slimline S3100n?

Shut down the power to your HP Slimline computer.

Remove any memory cards or other devices from the desktop.

Disconnect the power cord and peripheral devices from the computer.

Lay the computer flat on your work surface.

Remove the three screws on the rear of the computer cover with a Phillips screwdriver.

Slide the cover toward the back of the computer then lift it off the tower.

Set the cover aside.

Raise the wire latch in front of the hard drive mounting area.

Pull the cables straight out of the connections to disconnect them from the hard drive. Unscrew the retaining screw in the side of the mounting tray with a Phillips screwdriver.

Grab the tab on the hard drive tray and slide it back out of the mounting area. Remove the screws that secure the hard drive to the tray with a Phillips screwdriver.

There are four screws, one on each corner.

Slide the hard drive out of the tray.
