My craftsman riding mower keeps burning out the coil any suggestions

It sounds like it is running hot . You might want to try moving it to where it isn't close to the motor or exhaust . If that persist in burning out then you might want to see about getting an heavy duty coil

On my Craftsman Riding Lawn Mower the engine stalls after say about 10 minutes - I leave it for say 5 or 10 mins and I can start it again. I changed the sparkplug and it's not bad gas as my other mower...

The problem is more than likely the coil. The coil is nothing more than a coil of copper wire. When the coil gets hot the wire expands causing the coil to open or lose connection. When it loses connection then the spark plug quits firing.

My old craftsman push mower just stopped

When you say coil, is it a coil with points and condenser or is it the electronic ignition that has no points and condenser? Whichever one it is, if you can manually move the flywheel with it off then your engine should not be the problem. I don't understand what caused it to look like it was hit by a train as it doesn't come in contact with any moving part. Is it possible it shook loose and moved toward the flywheel by accident? Try pull starting it without the coil to see if it still is seized up. Of course it isn't going to start but you will know if the coil is the problem. If it doesn't seem seized up then replace the coil.
