Check the valve clearances. There is no adjustment for the valves and they do dig themselves into their seats. File the inlet valve to give it a slight bit of clearance, about 0.005". Leave the exhaust valve just touching the tappet to act as a valve lifter for easier starting, The valves and tappets are accessed through the cover in the crankcase under the muffler.
