Mowers do not have condensers anymore unless it is a very old model. Try replacing the spark plug, and is there sufficient compression? Even if the carb settings are out, the engine should at least fire if the ignition is ok.

Briggs Stratton 5hp I/C starts ok, runs, but will not rev

My money is on a partial blockage of the main jet or the passageway to it. You're having to force it to run through the idle jet by fully choking the incoming air. There's not enough gas coming in with the choke open to allow it to run.

I'm thiniking total carb disassembly, carb cleaner and an air compressor combined with a ton of patience will take care of the issue.

1988 mustang 2.3 has spark, fuel will not start

What you should check is firing order, any motor that has spark and petrol must at least back fire, when try to start, if it is still not doing that I would do a compression test to make sure compression is ok, then check the carb to make sure there is fuel in it and that the flot level in carb is correct check clean the carb all the jets and places where petrol flows through the carb, once you have completely clean and checked the carb then you know it's not the carb then you go to the next thing. Spark, is the bogie cables work properly replace them if it is shorting out against the body of the engine, replace the condenser that is on the side of the rotor cap those things are known to give trouble, they work sometimes and then it stops working, anyway good luck hope this is of use to you.

Ran out of petrol started shaking and cutting out now wont start at all

you have probably got a blockage in either the fuel filter or carb,so first check filter,if ok check carb.take fuel line of carb turn engine over see if fuel comes out if it does then filter ok if not change filter,

Neos starts if I squirt petrol straight into the carb, runs for about 5 seconds, reves up a bit, and then dies. Has full take of petrol and oil, spark ok, had new carb fitted - was running been left...

you need to confirm pilot jet is clean and clear of fuel gum first step up. in the the pilot jet can it can block with in a week or two so few months is more than possible
the high rev is just what happens when motor out of fuel (so it has used all you pored into the plug hole)
remove carb - remove pilot jet - blow compressed air through the hole pilot jet goes into and replace with cleaned or a new pilot jet
also confirm it is brand new fuel in the tank don't even try to run the old fuel throw every drop away and re fill if you haven't already

Mcculoch mt 300mcculoch petrol strimmer carb two adjustable screw bolts ones for petrol, ones petrol & air mixture hich one does which

Actually both screws are for petrol mix. The screw closest to the engine is the Lo side. Lo side jet provides petrol at idle and during the ramp up to speed. Hi side jet (closest to air filter) only effects the mix at high speed.
From McCulloch, these were set at 1 1/4 turns out.
Good luck!

Bike sparking and compression ok cannot start bike when cold this year any solutions thanks bike is year 1981

Either the spark is at the wrong timing when you would hear backfiring or coughing at least,if not it is fuel related
Check the reed valves are closing proerly, that the carb & jets are clean, & they have FRESH petrol
It sounds like it may not have run in 6 months or so in which time petrol goes off ( water can get in to petrol quicker giving the same effect

Hope this helps (if so please mark as helpful !!)

Bike wont start or idle i checked the carb, jets etc and they are all clean

Was it running before you cleaned the carb? Is your float level correctly set? If the float sits too high the engine will flood and won't start. You will smell petrol. If you set it too low there will be only a little petrol in the bowl and the engine will starve. Is the mixture screw properly set? Other than those things there is not a lot that can go wrong with those carbs, they are very simple.

At 30 it spluters and juders

I know you did the carb. but either you have poor fuel supply (screen in the tank plugged) or your carb is still plugged, usually blowing them out is not good enough unless it is soaked in a carb dip tank then blown out. Most jets and passages still have a build **** in if you don"t have the chemicals to break them down it is neccesary to use something to run through them... I use a torch tip cleaner because of the variety in sizes... It's amazing what comes out of them when you finally get it clean and how big the jets really are...

My pit bike wont stay runnin

sounds like your carb could be blocked with dirt if it wont start unless you put juice down plug i would take the carb off and give it a good clean and also make sure the jets ok just clean them with carb cleaner and a paper clip
