I bought a house with one already installed. Found that it isn't switching from 'hot' to 'cold' After time the unit will beep and flash LED's on the unit itself and then switch off. Rather handy on 40 degree days. Good luck sourcing parts for the unit as the company have gone bust. I do know an honest working fellow that installs units - he suggests that Kelvernator are a no go, Mitsubishi, Panasonic are the ones to look at. Pay the extra cash for a brand name, they're less likely to go bust for a start, and if there is a problem, parts are readily available.

If you have a heat pump probably there's a wrong connectionin the thermostat, but if is not a heat pump ,the compresor is not working or the unit leaked all the refrigerant.

Testimonial: "thank you, we have had a problem in the past with refrigerant leaking, was supposed to be fixed"
If the a/c fails to continue to blow cold there could be a few problems you can look for. First once you activate the system check to see if the compressor kicks in. You will hear the compressor humming . Once the a/c quits cooling go and see if the compressor is still running. If its not running its probibly gone into thermal overload (compressor overheated). If that is the case then you need to check to see if the coils are icing up if they are icing up then the problem is with 1) air flow restriction filter dirty, coils dirty simple repairs there replace filter, clean evaporator coil with a coil cleaner that can be purchased at a home repair store cleaning the condensor coil the same. 2) system is low on freon in which case the system will need to be recharged. Also, If you have a digital thermostat replace the batteries that may also be of some help. Good Luck on repairs
