Question about Samsung Dryers

1 Answer

My Samsung front load dryer is running but not heating. Could it be a fuse and where do I find it? If not then what else should I be looking for as a problem? Where do I buy what I need? Thank You, Jolene

Hi Jolene...You could have numerous problems causing your dryer not to heat.
I included some things to try and locate the problem part.
You can buy the parts needed on the following websites or numerous other website that sell parts.
http://www.partselect.com/
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:
Check your Wiring
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks.
If this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the
wire is attached.
Check the Door Switch
If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed
component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame.
Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.
Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed.
If not replace the door switch.
Check to make sure you heating problem is not a lint build up in the discharge hose or the dryer,as this condition can cause
heater/thermistor problems such as overheating of the heating coil leading to failure of the coil and burnout of the
thermostat/thermistor due to overheat.
Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape
or with an ohm meter to test the thermostat/thermistor. (Should have/show continuity)
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor.
(Thermal fuse.If it overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. A vent clogged
with lint can cause it to overheat. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, if no continuity, replace it)
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST.
This could cause a FIRE, as you have removed the safety of overheat from the machine.
Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on 'air fluff' / 'no heat', and go outside to verify there's
plenty of air coming out your vent system.
If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly.

No heat in dryer

Brian;
there is a heating element that comes on/off during the cycle it's is located in the back, bottom of the dryer...easy to remove. Unless it's a newer front load model... which I personally hate :) because you access the FL model from the front.. but it's just like a heating element in a furnace, test it w/ a nolm meter, you should be able to see the break in the coil....

Samsung front load electric dryer not getting hot

There is a thermal sensor type breaker leading to the heating element. They are usually round, about quarter size, with a spade connector on each end. They can be checked by a OHM meter to see if they make a connection from one terminal to the other. There may be more than one. If that checks good then you need to check the heating elements for resistance for one end to the other. If there is no resistance then the element is bad.

My maytag front load dryer turns on and runs,it does not blow any hot air

Hi,
Make sure front of dryer is not blocked, air flow is needed to dry.Check that the lint filter and exhaust duct is clean.

Check the blown fuses and home’s circuit breaker tripped. Dryer use 2 household Fuses or a circuit breakers, Replace the Fuses or reset the circuit breaker.

Another common cause of a dryer failing to heat is a faulty Heating Element. You will need to replace it.

Good Luck and have a nice day.

Dryer doesn't put out any heat, but it does run.

Check the schematic, it should be on the back of the machine. You'll see that the heat circuit probably goes thru the switch on the motor. Use a multimeter to check continuity thru the element, the heat sensors, and the timer. You can do most with the machine unplugged. If you're familiar with checking live circuits, just keep in mind that 220 comes from both ways and meets in the middle, where the load is: so be very careful.

Dryer no heating how do I get to the fuses and the heating elemet

using a wide flat screw driver pry the top up at the edges betwenn the main top and the front panel. Lay it down on it's back for this. Now look for your door switch wires and undo them. Now look inside the front panel toward the top and remove 2 attaching screws or hex screws. Lift panel at top and remove. Now undo 3 screws in middle of inside drum and pull drum out after un-doing belt. There you should find your heat element and all the thermostats and the thermal fuse should be labeled. If heat element is not broken then chances are your thermal fuse is bad replace it

Check your breaker box, or fuses. A dryer will run but not heat if one fuse is bad.
