Question about Canon PowerShot A430 Digital Camera

Open Question

Canon PowerShot A495 - Brand new. Used it once and took 40 photos. It then told me to change the batteries which I did. From then on it keeps saying "change the batteries" I've used alkalines and also rechargeable NiMH, These are either new or fully recharged batteries and still I get the same message. I have also cleaned the terminals inside the camera and even those on the batteries themselves. No change. This is clearly not a battery problem. This is a camera problem and its seems I am not the only one to have it. Is there a simply solution to this?

SOURCE: S40 Battery problem

Alkaline batteries are not capable of outputting the level of power required for your camera to operate. Your daughter's camera may have lower requirements and be able to function properly using alkaline batteries. Your standard alkaline battery outputs about 700 milliamps of power when they are brand new. A rechargeable NiMH battery can range from 1200 to 2700 or even 3200 milliamps max power output depending on the quality of the battery. Most compact digital cameras that accept AA style batteries are designed for these high-output rechargeables and will not function for very long even on fresh Alkaline batteries. SOURCE: displays "low battery" always

I had exactly this problem and found the solution - I was using the wrong type of batteries.

You might be doing the same so what you need to do is check to see what mAh the batteries you're using. I was using Energizer rechargables with 1300mAh when the camera stopped working and switched to 2500mAh rechargables (on the advice of a friend) as a last desperate attempt to get it to work and it solved my problem. I got 2500mAh Energizer rechargables and would advise the same but you should go for batteries with at least 2100mAh.

I hope this helps some people :)

SOURCE: CANON POWERSHOT A530 LOW BATTERY READING

We had the same problem and it was so very frustrating. We sent the Camera back for assesment and repair only to be told there was nothing wrong with it. The solution was so simple we felt like real dummies.

All you have to do is use Energizer Lithium Batteries, since we started using them we have not had a problem with Batteries going flat or that annoying Battery indicator flashing.

Why won't my Powershot A495 take a photo?

iIt seems that the battery is low or not powerful enough to run the camera properly. when the camera notices there is not enough power it will automatically shut down. ensure the battery is fully charged up on the charger and then try it. the battery type is
Canon NB-3L and if the camera is a few years old or has been stored for a long time the battery may need to be replaced.

if all these have been done and still the problem persists i would recommend a dealer have a look at the camera.

to replace battery open slider plate on bottom of camera and flip tab to release the battery pack.

I hope this was useful.

Canon Powershot A495 Wont power on using the ON/OFF button

The problem is short on playback button due to humidity (see differents between the buttons on foto no.1), wich can be removed mechanically using a pin and making two holes(inlet/outlet) at the side of the button where no wiring running(!) and with a hypo carefully shooting air beetween the foils. It is useful to lift up little bit the spring button from the bottom foil to remove the short. A hair dryer can be also helpful to dry out the space between the foils. Please check the fotos and link too.
The camera will not power on by battery insertion when short is over. To protect buttons against repeted defects I used an adhesive tape to close the openings on the top of the buttons.

My canon powershot a495 has a problem. it always

Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pictures in today's power hungry digital cameras. Some batteries may also have reached their shelf life at the store, and though brand-new right out of the package may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. The one's that came with your camera are just to show you that the camera works, but as you've discovered, they'll only last for a few pictures. Digital cameras that use AA's for the most part should only be used with modern rechargeable batteries. If you read the camera's instruction manual concerning batteries, you should see the same recommendation.
Modern rechargeable batteries have over 5 times the power density of alkaline batteries (that's right, they last up to 5 times longer than an alkaline battery. And you can recharge them over and over!). Keep in mind rechargeable batteries will save you much money in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may be angry with yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

On my canon powershot A495 my camera says lens error restart camera but i havent mistreated it how can i fix this myself

Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

all the canon cameras batteries do not last more than 2 years.
the best would be to purchase a new battery which you can find at any Target, OfficeMax of a sort department stores.

Short battery life

Use the best name brand batteries you can find. Energizers and Duracell work best. Chance the size of your pictures to the smallest you can. At 300 X 300, you can still make 8 X 10 enlargements clearly. The larger the pic, the more power it takes to process it.

Won't Turn On

I had same problem. Took it to photo store who sent it to Canon. They returned the camera stating liquid damage, would cost more to repair than to buy new one. I figured what the heck and sprayed WD 40 in the battery compartment. It turned on but wouldn't zoom. Sprayed it again and more worked. After the 3rd spraying it works like new and has for 9 months.
