Question about Magellan FX324 Color GPS Receiver

Open Question

I had this unit fx 324 for about 7 years and it performed flawlessly until now. I had some voltage drop on the line where it was connected when I used a bow thruster or a whinch it would freeze up but after disconnect and turn on it would be OK. Now I changed the supply line but the unit became erratic. First time I noticed it was yesterday when I went out for a little cruise. First of all it took a long time to find the sats. After a while it stsrted showin erronious speed up to 50 knts on a sail boat, the sat rceiving sign kept going out for about 50 sec at a time. My heading also kept moving erratically. I tied resetting turn on off, un plug plug but no change. What could be the problem and can it be fixed and where?? please help!!! I live in Bodrum, Turkey.

SOURCE: Resetting User Preferences on GPS

Canada, When your 700 initially boots up to the user menu, press the zoom out key "-" and the repeat button (on top of the unit). This will bring you to another menu. Scroll down until you see reset user data or something along those lines. There's one that resets the "gps user data" and then there's the other one that you want to use. After you select reset user data, your unit will clear out all memory (from users preferences anyway) and will automatically shutdown. Fire it up after this happens and this should fixya. -Daniel

I have a Peavey XR 8600 PA, I have tried adding an external vocal effects module into a mic line but it drops the output volume of the entire PA by about 75%. Any ideas why this is?

Well, I would say it isn't dropping the level of "the whole pa", it is just dropping the level of the input you have plugged the fx into. Check the settings on your fx unit, there are usually input, output and mix controls that are independant of "the pa" and affect the amplitude of the signal going into your mixer from the fx unit.

Older unit probably late 80s or 90s worked good until recently. will not turn on.

Really need to know what equipment you're having trouble with. Provide make and model and info on power source (battery, DC power supply...)
In general though, if you can sample your input voltage near the unit with it still plugged in (use pointed probes or skin back wire insulation) and see what the voltage is with the unit turned on. If it drops when you turn it on, look for a bad connection in the line going to the source.

5 years is about the lifespan for tankless.
You might have shorted element. That would explain cooler water and tripping reset.
Test element: power is off, disconnect wires from element; ohms = voltage squared divided by watt rating of element

I have a Mitsubishi Mr Slim MSZ-A12NA for almost 3 years now and it has performed flawlessly the whole time.....until now! I had a main breaker fail and one side of my 220 line went out. When I repaired...

What ever when out in your system is what when to ground and got the breaker. Your contactor in the outdoor unit is either stuck closed or the circuit board is bad and and is sending unwanted voltage to the contactor.
The contactor could be built into the circuit board or be a stand along contactor.

I have a Panasonic kx-ta824 system that has been up and running for 3 years, flawless the cordless phones are dropping calls so I replaced them with 2 new ones, they are doing the same thing. The corded...

The problem sounds like it is the main base, the only advice I can give is change the phone cord between the base and the wall to see if that will help, the only other option is check the base for connection issues "inside the unit" and finally check your phone company and ask for a technician to find out if there is issues with the phone lines. If you still have problems, try a replacement base.

Every 1 minute it has a one second surge

Hello Dave,
The first place to start is with the line voltage supplying the condensing unit. Check ALL line voltage connections at the condensing unit, the service disconnect, and the electrical panel box. If you have a weak connection or overheating circuit breaker, it could create these surges.

Don't forget to ensure the filters and coils are clean to keep your system operating at peak performance & efficiency. :-)

Voltage drop test

A voltage drop test is done using a DVOM. Set the meter to the DC voltage scale. Depending on the side of the cicuit you are on, place the positive lead on the most positive end of the cable.(closest to the positive terminal) and the negative on the other side of your cable/connection.Then exercise it. ( IE: Turn the headlight switch when checking voltage drop across the ground). The meter should read as close to zero volts as possible. (acceptable to rise up to 0.03v on the ground side) The reading you get is the amount that the cable or connection you are checking is drawing from your 12v source. You should do this to check for concerns in a circuit, so do not clean the connections until you perform the test.I hope this is helpful, if you need more info., drop me a line.

FX-160 not working

Check your voltage in your area or check your outlet it may be loose. If your outlet is loose try using another outlet to test the unit.
May be the unit is tripping due to abnormal voltage or loose outlet.
