Remove the sheets of paper. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges as well. Close the cover. Then unplug and replug the printer into the power outlet to reset itself. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges when prompted. Load some paper. Check for any error. Try to print.

Says paper jam no paper in machine

HI,I had the same problem today. I ended up taking a piece of paper and from the back side started lightly forcing the paper in the back slot. I had the top cover open where you replace the ink cartridges. Towards the back you can see the paper start coming into the printer next to some rollers. On mine there was a small black switch about an inch from the right in the middle of the plastic piece above the rollers. Once I started pushing this paper in I could see this switch was stuck in the down position. After several minutes of pushing the paper in and out the switch moved up and out of the paper path. I then pulled out the paper and hit the ok button and it came on line. This may work better with a piece of card stock.
That switch is the issue. I ended up finding an object lodged against the switch. Needed a flashlight, plastic giftcard and a tweezers to get it out. Works great now.

Also, open the printer where the paper for printing is put in.
At the back left hand side there is a white long piece and either side a white piece with a small square on it.
Use a longingish screwdriver and push this gently down. It will click back into place quite easily.
Note: this tops the paper from feeding in and needs reseting after a jam.You will know all is OK when a sheet of ordinary paper is put in > touches the feed roller above the white bits, and is level across the paper feed area.

Hope it helps,,

Thanks for using fixya.....

Printer keep saying cover is open and cant find

====.> continued from an earlier answer that seemed to close up too soon, before I finished typing my response.

... and the cover appears to the printer to be open. If you can clean this photo-ectric sensror, it will tell the printer that the cover is actually closed, as it should, and the printer will return to printing as it should do.
Clean all photoelectronic sensors, to ensure that they are all going to respond as they should, and your printer will then work fine.

Message says lid is open when it is closed

Hi,

Please try out the blow mentioned 2 options. I am sure the problem will be sorted out:

  1. When you lift the cover up along the back end of the gray plastic bottom cover, you'll see a square opening close to the right side hinge.
There should be a little white plastic piece sticking out of there. If not, it fell into the guts of the printer. You have to remove the gray plastic and find the white lever and replace it onto a micro-switch along the back where the square opening is/was.
You'll see a PCB (printed circuit board) there and the micro-switch will be located on that...
Hope this helps

2. Remove the screws on the front of the cover when it is open. Once removed At the back of the unit 2/3 rd from the left there is a small switch if this is pushed in ( and held by whatever means sellotape etc it will opperate normally (to change cartridge you may have to re do)

Paper jam ,no paper jam found Dell 1815dn

give this a try

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

Back cover open message

I had the same error message. I also tried every compartment... Here's ultimately what my problem/solution was...

I turned the printer around and fully opened the back cover. I found that one of my kids had somehow fed a small piece of paper/cardboard into the printer. When I opened the back cover all the way I could see that obstruction (which I hadn't seen before). Pulled it out, and the error message went away. Works fine now.

Cat jumped on top of printer and 2 pieces popped out

Hi there you will have to remove the top cover and you will be able to see where it goes as the roller in question is the paper eject roller. there are usually four screws under the top cover and also at the rear of the machine. The picture where the roller is resting on the top of the printer the roller is situated right under that also that white bushing holds the roller in at one end usually the left as you look at the machine from the front.

Thanks J

Disc Tray

Hi,

You will need to get back the cover off and the laser tray cover off the fix this.

When putting the CD tray back in, the white piece that raises and lowers the Disc/laser frame has a white peg sticking up. before putting the Cd tray back in, slide the white piece all the way to the right towards the reset/eject buttons. guide the cd tray so that the white pin guides into the slot on the bottom of the cd tray. You might want to look at the bottom of the CD tray to see the track. The white pin/peg has to travel in this slot.

No paper fed

I'm guessing that little piece of plastic has something to do with the paper sensor.  You may want to open that section and set it back the way it was.

on the above image you can see how I solved this problem. I used the way discribed in solution #2. I first broke off the little box and then added the little copper wire contacting the piece of iron at its left. Now my camera works again.
