Well try replacing it and see whether the problem persists. What makes you sure that its a drive failure? Or, use the drive on another machine and see if its OK. if not, am sorry you have to replace the motherboard

No bootable device found

The Hard Drive is not starting up. You can check the Hard Drive and detach/re-attach. If it's a HDD failure, you will need to replace it.
The other issue could be HDD controller on the motherboard.
90%of the time it's a HDD failure.

OptiPlex GX150 series. Diskette Drive 1 Seek Failure. Primary Hard drive 1 Not found. Secondary Hard drive 1 not found.

Sounds like a hard drive failure. It is fairly easy to purchase a new hard drive and put it in, but then you must have the software to re-install everything. If you are a bit concerned about doing these things, take your PC to a PC Repair shop and they will install a new hard drive and put a new operating system on it. Depending on how old the Desktop is, you may want to buy a new PC as the old motherboard may fail on you in the next 6-months to a year. Check your gut on this.

Holland calling. I've got a maxdata laptop, eco 47051W. After 2 1/2 years it has suddenly stopped working. Store couldn't fix it, seems the motherboard is broken. I'm told I can't get a new mob for my...

You would have to look on sites like Ebay for a spares/repair the same model.
Lots of people sell old laptops with cracked screens, but you would not know if the mobo was ok till you got it. It may be cheaper to but a second user laptop, you could take the old hard drive out of your laptop and fit it in a caddy to keep your data

Additional hard drive needed

Just buy a new SATA HD of what ever capacity fits your budget. Keep the old one as it works with your setup. There is no point causing extra work for yourself.

Power off the computer. Conenct Power to the drive and a SATA cable to the new drive (should be supplied with it) and the motherboard. Power on the computer and then format the new drive. The drive letter will be assigned by the Operating System. Once completed you have a new drive to use.

LOST POWER ON MY COMPUTER.

You can place your hard drive into an External Hard Drive Case and transfer your files on another system (this would be cheaper than having a repair shop do a ‘data-transfer’).
