Why does my digitrex tv freeze at 19% when doing a digital channel search?

It would have been helpful if you had provided the model number of the combination unit. It is likely the channel signals are weak or there is some interference.

Try to use the manual tune option for a few main channels to see whether you are getting good signal. If the signal is ok then power off the tv at the mains and start again. I am assuming the TV antenna is external roof mounted.

How to resolve TV tuning issues?

Check the orientation of the antenna. Try to rotate it, and see whether the signal strength varies. If the signal strength is too weak, digital channels will show many problems. Try a signal booster. Contact any service technician. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Jason478. I would be surprised you are picking up the signal from the Spot beam which Sky Pacific uses. I do not believe even the spill is reaching Hawaii. Best to get a refund of your money as you will definitely loose the signal when the replacement satellite kicks in on Dec 2011. Be careful of the Sales people in Sky Pacific. http://www.intelsat.com/flash/coverage-maps/sat_foot.html?sat=IS-701%20at%20180%BA%20E&display=map&spot=0

The channels are going off because the signal is not stavying strong enough to keep a regular picture. If you are having this with several channels, there are several things you can check. First, make sure all the antenna wires are not loose. Then find the signal strength option in your converter box (each is different thus you need to check the manual on how to use) to see how strong your signal is. If all channels are low, you most likely need a outdoor antenna. These can be bought at any home improvement store. There is no such thing as a digital antenna. The signal for the channels are still being sent over the same tv spectrum (most will be over UHF) thus walk away from any electronic store that is selling a special digital antenna, there is no such thing. I am using a outdoor antenna, and the picture I receive is just as good as cable. It is some effort to hook it up correctly but the improved picture is well worth the effort. Very heavy rain, wind and clouds at your home and near were the tv broadcast antenna is will also effect your picture. These problems go away as the weather gets better. Directv also has the same problems with weather.

Get an outdoor antenna. Digital signals very rarely reach indoor antennas unless you are within ten miles of the signal origin.

Converter box

You'll need to keep your TV on channel 3 or 4 depending on what channel you set the converter box. All your channel changing will be done through the converter using its remote control after that. If you change channels on the TV itself and go off channel 3 or 4, the TV will not get a signal and will show you that "no signal" message.

NO HDTV

There are many variables here that could cause the problem. I can receive a few local HD channels ( within about 60 miles ) on my 57H94. I am not aware of any "HD specific" settings- it's all part of the receiving circuits in the TV. The first thing I would look at is to be sure you have a secure antenna connection. Then be sure you have selected the correct antenna input on the TV (there are two). HD channels, as an example will show up as 10-1, 10-2, etc. Most TVs have different sensitivity thresholds, regardless of size. Usually digital signals, including HD, are either there or not. In most cases if a TV picks up a decent analogue signal, a digital set should receive the digital signal, including available HD channels, as well. If you are going to use an antenna, rather than cable or satellite, try to get the best antenna you can afford, that will meet your physical requirements ( indoor / outdoor,etc.). Keep in mind that not all digital TV signal are HD. All of our local stations in this area transmit a digital signal, but true HD broadcasts remain variable. I hope this has helped in some way-Good Luck!

Digital or Analog>

I believe this tv has a built in digital tuner. To verify this, using your remote attempt to change the channel to say 3-1 or 3.1 if you have a digital tuner this is how a digital channel will show up. Also if you go into your menu under channel scan you should see a choice named dtv. And finally on the back you will have a coax connecter named dtv. The latter is not always true. If it does turn out to be standard format tv, you can still purchase a digital set-top box that will decode digital for you. Keep in mind that you must have a good uhf off air signal in your area to recieve digital signals. Good luck.
