Question about Dell Studio 17 (1749) Laptop black - Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, Intel Core i3-350M 2.26GHz, 3 gb... PC Notebook

1 Answer

I have a studio 1749 my problem started after i removed the keyboard to clean it because of the dusty enviroment i work in. After putting the board back in i noticed the entire 2 bottom rows of keys didnt work including the g,h,enter keys from the 3rd row,the number keys on the r/s of keyboard. I purchased 2 new keyboards thinking i damaged the original keyboard however both new keyboards have the exact same problem. Thinking of purchasing a new motherboard any help would be useful thanks in advance

It's more likely you haven't put the ribbon cable back properly. try removing the keyboard again and reinsert the ribbon cable carefully - remeber there is a bable grip that needs to opened to remove the cable and closed again after insertion to maintain contact

My eject key is not working on my dell studio laptop

I'm guessing that you mean the CD or DVD drive. There is a little hole on the drive door. you can put an opened paper clip in that hole to open the tray. make sure there isn't anything jamming it.

How do I troubleshoot my dell studio 1749 computer's wireless card that does not show up when f2 is pressed

LOL, good ole Windows 7, it loses devices just like Windows Vista.

Try downloading and reinstalling the drivers.

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "DellSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the drivers. If after reinstalling the drivers the problem still exists. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the battery, turn the laptop over and start removing the screws from the cover that houses the wireless card. Once you find the wireless card, remove the screw or screws that hold it in place and take the wireless out of the slot. Also remove the antennas from the wirles card (black and white cables). Then but the antennas back on, put the wireless card back into the slot, and reboot and see if it's recognized and works.

Keyboard missing keys

Hello, even though without further details it be hard to pinpoint the cause(s) of the failure, this is a not so common problem and happens on older laptop keyboards especiallt if they have been exposed to prolonged dusty enviroments or smoke, if you feel technically inclined you can take it apart and do a contact clean up, to be honest you might be able to find a good deal on a used one, hope this little info helps.
