Microwave not cooking - clock counts down but the actual mircrowaves are not 'waving'. Is there a solution to fix this without trashing this and replace?

To check you will need a multimeter, screwdriver and be very safety aware,TOUCHING ANY PART OF THE HIGH VOLT SUPPLY,=DEATH.

Proceed as advised,1 unplug it and put plug inside the oven.

2 .remove all the screws from the cover at back and side

3 .with a torch visualy inspect push on terminals for overheating

4.if ok use multimeter on continuity beep probe to mains plug neutral outher to terminal on large mains transformer should beep if ok

5.if all ok then the safety circuit has operated or door switches fault

6 safety circuit fuse = small white fuse aprox 15mm rated at 8 or 10 amp.locate this fuse and test on continuity with meter ,you will find this blown replace with identical one, refit oven cabinet cover and test with 500ml water for 2 mins.if cold .has failed again and not worth goin any further as usual cause is diode failed £6,magnetron failed £25 or capacitor shorted £8 and knowledge reqd to sort.

I have a Siemens HF759 combination microwave/grill/oven bought in 1998. The temperature selector knob still turns oven/grill on but the dial stays at zero, therefore I have no idea how hot my oven is. Is...

Hi Christine - I also have one of these ovens and the same thing happened to me. The problem is that the loop of tape with the temperature scale which turns on a cog when you operate the temperature selector has snapped. It runs a bit like a 35mm film in a camera. If you can find someone who is handy he maybe able to 'splice' the tape back together and it should work for a while. I did this but after about a year it snapped again. I have been trying to source the tape itself but without much success. Feel free to email me on and I will let you know if I can find a supplier. Kind regards, Mike

Frigidaire wall bake oven (door opens with hinges on left) won't unlock after cleaning. Turned current off and back on with no results. Fan runs as in cleaning cycle, but door won't open.

If after self cleaning cycle the over door is not getting open. Then in some cases the door latch gets locked and this latch stops functioning so the door does not get open.In this case the front door assembly has to be disassembled and the door latch,it has to be manually triggered/pushed by a screw driver or any such object. So the door latch releases the door to get open. Then refit the parts and check,if the door latch is not functioning as it should be.Then the door latch assembly has to be replaced. After self cleaning, many a times the door latches gets overheated and its connections gets short internally. This is noticed by many other users too.In some cases door latch just gets blocked and triggering it with screw driver, makes it function properly. So disassemble the door and see the condition of door latch. This will help you to decide whether its just locked or got faulty.------------If its got faulty and you require door latch part, then you can get it from the online sites like or from searspartsdirect site.
---------------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hi, got old Eurolec Gas oven/hob. Hob lights up fine. Was cooking in oven all morning, no probs. Tried to light oven for evening meal & gas will not stay lit, goes out once ignitor & temp' dial...

Hi, your thermocouple is faulty, it is the little probe like thingy that sticks up into the pilot flame. It is there for safety purposes, detects flame and holds a valve open magnetically to allow the gas to pass through. Try giving it a clean with a scourer, sometimes works, or your pilot flame is not big enough, could be low on gas or unit needs a service Kristian KJ Tech

if you mean the door hook inside the door this is quite easy you need a flat small bladed screwdriver to split apart the plastic inner part of door from the outer keep working around till you have released all the catches there are several, the inner skin will pull away revealing the hook and a spring the hook just slides out refit new hook with spring and reassemble. easy.

Lightbulb in microwave went out . can't find where it goes. we have a kenmore convection oven

In cheaper ovens it is not possible to get to without removing the outer case, so is not recommended by the manufacturer - They want you to buy a new oven because the lamp fails.

On the other hand, if you are meticulous, you can unplug, remove the outer casing and access the bulb, BUT YOU MUST ENSURE ALL SCREWS ARE RETURNED TO ORIGINAL LOCATIONS after repair.

Bulb is likely to be non-standard, but easy to fit.

It is very important that all shielding is replaced exactly as fitted, and the outer case is undamaged and refitted perfectly - or microwave energy is likely to leak at these points.
