Get the hard drive replaced. it has the system on it and when your mom dropped the ps3 it jolted the hard drive and likely killed it.

send it back to sony. it will cost you quite a bit to do that.

ps. the board is also probably cracked and may have other damages that cannot be seen.

bottom line: DO NOT DROP ANY TYPE OF ELECTRONICS. THEY DON'T LIKE IT!!! :)

Will not switch on

Check your power scource. Make sure that if the PS3 is plugged into a GFI outlet that it does not need to be reset or if plugged into a surge protector it doesn't need to be reset. If you can guarantee the power source is good then let me know we can go from there.

Has a disk cracked inside your console?

This is a very common problem that unfortunately is mainly happening when the games are left in the system, before restarting.

The best advice I can give you from personal experience is make sure you remove your game after use. Do not start the system while the game is in the PS3.

PS3 - tv says no signal

You need to change the resolution output on your PS3 to match the capabilities of your TV. If your TV is not HD you can't leave the PS3's video output on HD. SCART is for european television connections. Have you tried using component cables? Have you tried changing your tv's source to Video 1 or Component 1 or HDMI or anything that might work? Good luck!!

Green Yellow Red Lights

It can be overheating but it can also occur for no reason whatsoever. I did a little reasearch and found somone that had managed to get his ps3 working by pushing down on the metal shielding in between the power supply and wifi board, I know it sounds stupid but I tried it out on a coustomer's broken ps3 with the same problem and it worked. My guess is that the spot i pushed down on has a thermal resistor underneath with a bad solder connection or somthing. Tthe only problem is to do this you must take apart your ps3. Have either of you ever taken apart a ps3? If not, you either need to take it to a repair shop or call sony and have them fix it.
