I'm not exactly sure, but I think that an IONIZER has nothing more than metal blades inside that 'capture' dust/debris and contaminants from the air on the blades. There should be a handle to lift up on and remove the long blades.
You rinse the blades with warm soapy water, dry them and put them back in. Maybe I'm thinking of something else, but to me, that is what an ionizer is. Hope this helps at least some.

Model E20739: The entire back comes off to expose the fan blades after removing two screws. Just unplug the unit. On the back of the unit near the top is a recess that acts as a carrying handle. In that area you will see two large silver-colored screws. Remove these, grasp the back of the unit and push down on it as you pull it away from the body of the fan. You may have to wiggle it around a little to free it.

The fan and motor are both easily disassembled with a Phillips screwdriver and some gentle force to remove the blades. Try to use even pressure when removing both the blades and opening the motor housing. The only questions are whether to flush the existing lubricant out of the bearings and what to replace it with. If you know what to use it shouldn't be a problem. If anyone could suggest an oil or grease, please do.
