I have connected to my 2311: HDMI 1: Oppo BDP 83 HDMI 2: Denon DVD 1740 HDMI 3: Apple Mac Mini Issue: The Mac Mini works fine and I have audio and video through the receiver, but for the BD and DVD only the video works and I have no audio. Any idea why?

    Hi,
Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately, it didn't solve my answer, I checked my setup and the HDMI ! was already with only the HDMI configured and the coaxial & optical are already set to None, I did the same for the HDMI 2, but the issue still remais for both inputs.

What I noticed in my tests is that if set the audio output (I'm not in home now, so I cannot check the exactly name of this setup option, but is something related to where it will be the sound output) to TV instead the default AMP, the audio works, but this is not what I want, since the sound of the speakers are better (I'm not sure if it helps, but currently I have configured a two channel system with a pair of KEF iQ10 speakers).

    Regards,

Hi,
You have to check the digital audio assignment of you AVR for HDMI 1 and HDMI 2. There is three options for the digital audio for HDMI 1 and HDMI 2. You can set it as optical ,coaxil, or the HDMI itself. In you receiver the assignment may be in optical input or in coaxial input for the two HDMI inputs.

1. Go to the system setup
2. Select input setup
3.Select input assignment.
4. Select all the three input ,you are using as HDMI

ok

    Hi,
Thanks for your answer, but unfortunately, it did not solve my problem, I checked this setup and for the HDMI 1 is already configured with only the HDMI enabled (the optical and coaxial are both set to None), I did the same configuration for HDMI 2, but the issue persists for both outputs.

During my tests, I noticed that if I configured the audio output (I am not in home right now, so I cannot check the correct name of this option, but is the one used to indicate where the sound output will be) to TV instead AMP, the audio works, but this is not what I want, since the sound through the speakers is better (I don't know if it helps, but currently I have a pair of KEF iQ10 speakers configured as two channel in the receiver).

    hi,
I have readed the information that you have sent to me. You owne one of the latest AV receiver which provides many facilities. as you mensioned, you AVR is not outputing the audio output through the speakers connected to it because, in the AVR the HDMI audio output is seted as TV. For lisening the audio through the AVR you have to set it as AMP.
For that you have to goto the MENU and select MANUAL SETUP and then select HDMI setup. In the HDMI setup select HDMI AUDIO OUT and then select it to the AMP.
Also you have to check one more thning, if the HDMI control function is activated the the fist priority will go to the TV to output the audio . You can see the HDMI control in the same menu page. The HDMI control only works when the equipment connected to AVR compitable with HDMI control. If not, you have to set it in OFF positon. If teh HDMI cotrol is in ON position make it to OFF. For getting HDMI control you have to buy a tv ,dvd, etc that have HDMI control facility , also you have to make connections with HDMI cable with a version of 1.3 or above . If you have to get audio through the AMP just do check these two things. if you need any more assistance from me then you can contact me through fixya.
    ok

    hi,
Have to tell you one more thing . If you are using only two speakers then you have to select all the surround speakers as NONE in the speaker setup of your amp. Also one more thing if you are not using a SUB WOOFER then select the subwoofer to NO inthe speaker setup, then only you will get the base level through your frond speakers. Press MENU button goto maual setup then select speaker setup in the speaker setup select speaker configuration. And set all the parameters. Or connect the configartion mic and go through auto calibaration.ok
    ok

    Hi,
Thank you again, I check my settings and they're already with the values that you suggested. Testing a little more I discovered that my problem is different from my initial thought, I discovered that some BD have no audio, but not all, only the BD with stereo audio options only, when a BD have a multichannel option (like Avatar), I have the audio working.

According with what I read in the web, the problem is my AMP ASSIGN configuratiion, it is set to 2CH currently and that is not the correct value (even that I have only a pair of speakers connected), the correct should be NORMAL or ZONE2. I will test this information later when I return home.

You may need to go into the menus for the BD and DVD players and make sure that the output for audio is set for HDMI as it may default to something else such as fiber optic or fgb connections.

    Hi,
Thanks for your answer, but it did not solve my issue, I used the DVD and BD, before bought the receiver, directly connected to the TV only using the HDMI cable and it worked fine, I never used a optical or coaxial audio cable. I also changed (to test only) the audio ouput in receiver to use TV instead AMP and it worked too. But, through the speakers, it is not working.
