Please check whether your computer's wireless connection enabled or disabled. If you are using windows 7 this information you can find in network sharing center. By accident if WLAN is disabled it can be enabled. Also power cycling the router may do the trick.
More drastic approach is resetting the router which I recommend to reserve as last resort. With information you provided the router seems to be fine and your computer wireless need to be enabled!
good luck!

Hi,

To boost up the performance of the wireless connection try the following.

  • Open the setup page of the Router / Modem.
  • Click Wireless and under wireless click Advanced Wireless Settings.
  • In there, change the Beacon Interval to 50.
  • Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304.
  • And change the RTS Threshold to 2304.
  • Save the settings. Turn OFF the router. Turn it back ON after 20 seconds.
  • It'll work.

Cannot access my wireless router because i had my computer cleaned and cannot find my disc to install my wireless system again

Hi,
IF you don't know your wireless password then you can reset your router. To do this press the reset button which is located in the back of your router(press untill all lights start blinking)
Connect your computer in any 1-4 port
After that you can access your router via web browser. For most Linksys routers you can achive this by typing : 192.168.1.1 default user: admin pass: admin
Then you can find the Wireless tab and configure your new Wireless Network Name and password

WRT54G2 wired desktop fine, can't connect to wireless.

Hi Seth6025,

Try without using Wireless Encryption (password).

Try changing channels; default is 6; try 1 or 11.
Change your SSID: personalize it
SSID broadcast: Enable

Check the advanced wireless settings and make sure MAC filtering - DISABLED.

Reset the Linksys router by pressing RESET for 30 seconds should everything fails and re-configure. Firmware is another consideration BUT this is just a new release.

Regards,

Angel

Wireless g notebook adapter

Hi sfconagelo,

Which card; wired or wireless card? Check to make sure that the card is properly installed in your computer in device manager. If properly installed then you should be able to connect but not if your Linksys router has wireless encryption (for wireless card).

Regards,

Angel

Hi there, you don't need to install from the disk. Make sure your modem connects to your router and then the computer's LAN port is connected to the LAN port of the router. Open internet explorer and in the address line type 192.168.1.1 this will connect you to the router's setup. On older Linksys routers the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin." You then can find the wireless setup to configure your router. Make sure if you use a WEP code you use the same code from your computer's wireless adaptor. Good Luck...

I have a wireless G linksys router not connected with laptop?

  • First, try unplugging the router and pluggin git back in. Frequently that solves the problem.
  • Second, if that doesn't work, there should be a reset button on the back of the router. Again, hit the button and wait.
  • The more advanced option it to use the web utility the route has. You should be able to access it by going to the router's IP address.
IMPORTANT: If you don't know anything about routers you can cause yourself some serious problems in the utility. Most of the settings should remain at their default setting. If in doubt...Leave it be.

  • Ok, disclaimer over. The router IP should be something like 192.168.1.1 (that's the common one used for linksys routers.) If you aren't sure, hover over the icon on the bottom right of the menu bar of your Dell and it should tell you the IP of the connection. You hould be able to access the router by taking off the last number and adding a 1 instead. (ie...your number is 555.555.5.3, you type in 555.555.5.1 into the address bar of your browser.)
  • You will have to type in a user name (linksys) and a password (admin). If you have changed the username or password, then you are a more advanced user and have probably already tried this. Either way there will be a tab in the utility for wireless information.
  • Here you can see a great deal of information about your wireless settings. You could also try using the one touch set-up option if your router hass it in the utility.

  • Lastly, make sure you have the most recent firmware (that's the software installed on the router itself.)
  • You should be able to go to the linksys website and download the newest one. The nice thing is that they give you great instructions on how to install it and get the router running again afterward.
GOOD LUCK!!

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Pinging most LinkSys WRT54G would require to open a command prompt in the PC, type "ping 192.168.1.1" less the quotes and await reply from the router.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

My lap top connecting to my wireless system.

Your computer is not yet connected to the wireless network of the router. Also, make sure that your wireless computer has a wireless adapter installed on it. You may verify it on the Device Manager. If you're using a laptop with built in wireless adapter , make sure that the switch for the wireless connection is on so that it will detect the signal of the router.

Try configuring or verifying the wireless settings of the router first by following the steps on this link:
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4585&p_created=1165894972&p_sid=RY2yXS3j&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTAwNiZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTE3MjEsMTcyMyZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PTIuMTcyMyZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD13aXJlbGVzcyBzZWN1cml0eQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1

After configuring or verifying the wireless settings of the router, connect your wireless computer by following the steps on this link:
http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4055&p_created=1160185039&p_sid=RY2yXS3j&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTAyNSZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPTE3MjEsMTcyMyZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PTIuMTcyMyZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1jb25uZWN0aW5n&p_li=&p_topview=1

If you cannot still connect wirelessly, let me know of the following:
- model number of the router
- operating system of the computer
- wireless adapter installed on the computer (built in or external)
- brand of wireless adapter installed
- wireless settings of the router (SSID, wireless security)

Win98, Linksys USB Adapter, 2wire router... no internet

hi!
sorry if it took a while to get an answer to your question...

anyway, let's begin by ensuring that you have completed installing the drivers & software of your wireless adapter.

launch the linksys wireless program by clicking on the icon for the linksys on the system tray or generally, this can also be launched from the programs menu after clicking on the windows start button.

on the main screen for the linksys, there are 3 tabs: link information, site survey & profiles. select the profiles tab

on the profiles screen, click on the new button to create a new profile. name the profile with a customized ID & click ok.

under choose a net type, select infrastructure mode. enter the SSID (this is your customized ID created on the new profile) & click next.

under network setting select obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) & click on next.

under security settings choose "disabled" for WEP and leave the rest of the fields blank.

confirm the settings by clicking on yes.

note: you don't need a driver for your 2wire router, ensuring that the 2wire is already working with the ethernet connection.
also make sure you are able to see your devices on the mdc page, go to homeportal/management, local network> device list.

i assume that the mac g4 is able to connect wirelessly to this 2wire modem, am i correct?

please let me know if you have any issues... we'll work this one out, ok?
