Wire hookup

You have to remove the cover plate on the back to access the terminal block.
If you have a 3 prong cord;
The center wire goes on the middle terminal. There should be a strap for this one that's connected with the wire.
Left wire to the left terminal, Right wire goes on right terminal.

For a 4 prong cord;
The black wire to the far left terminal, The red wire to the far right terminal.
The white wire goes to the middle terminal, however fold the strap up and away for future use.
Green wire is bolted to the cabinet for ground.

I hope that helps.

thanks,

Mike

I need to hookup up a Grasslin GM40 timer controlling one load and a 120vac application. Just wondering if someone could verify the hookup terminals as I cannot read the schematic as it is mostly gone. ...

Open following links to identify timer and download manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#GM

GM40 can be used for 120V or 240V 277V applications for single-phase and some 3-phase applications.
For 120Volt, set all 4 dip switches to ON position BEFORE applying power.
ON position is pushed to left.

120Volt cable from breaker box has black hot and white neutral wire.
Black hot typically connects to terminal L1
White neutral connects to terminal L2/N
This action will power the time clock and relays.

Other terminals on GM40 are the relay terminals, and these terminals are dry.
Dry means they receive no power when wires are connected to L1 and L2/N.

There are two independent relays and each relay has 3 terminals: NC NO and COM.
If you are controlling one 120volt Load, then use one relay.
Run a jumper wire from terminal L1 to COM terminal.
So COM terminal is connected to Hot.

Cable going to 120V Load has black and white wire.
Connect black Load wire to terminal NO (normally open).
Connect white Load wire to L2/N.

I have a sony sub model sa-wm20 will it work with this mini system

Read the manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Sony-SA-WM20-Subwoofers-manual/id/752ag408/t/2/

You would use the Speaker Terminal hookup option. Your front speakers would attach to the sub's speaker terminals.

Location for speed sensor

It's on top of the bell housing of the tranny just below the air box area. It would have a silver (insulated) pack with a snap button. If your hooking up a GPS system that requires a hookup with the speed sensor (VSS) (G22) wire, you can always tap it behind the instrument cluster at the blue terminal, location terminal is #28.

Moving into new home had to buy a 4 wire Dryer cord, need to know how to wire to the dryer

A three wire connection dryer cord hookup. Notice that there is a ground strap connected from the common center terminal to the frame of the terminal block. Place the center wire of the cord on the center terminal [ one with the ground ******** it ] and the other two wires will be placed on the outer terminals and it doesn't matter which wire goes right or left. Get the center wire of the cord right and you are in business.
A 4 wire dryer cord hookup. Notice that the ground strap has been removed from the terminal block frame and folded back onto the center terminal for storage. You can see the colors of the other hookups. TIP: White always to the middle.

My Maytag MEDC400VWO dryer needs the 4 wire instead of 3 wire hookup. I have it, but not the manual. How do I hookup the 4-wire and in what order onto a 3-wire dryer?

red and black wires go to terminals marked L1 and L2 hook these up either way its not critical, then white is the neutral and goes to the N terminal then green is the safety ground and it should be connected to a terminal that attaches to the units frame

What to hook the dimmer wire & illumination wire to

Those lower end Sony models dont use a dimmer or illumination. The display is constantly one brightness level.
Simply terminate or tape off those wires from the plug.
