Question about Denon AVR-1709 Receiver

1 Answer

I have a Denon AVR-391.Now it is starting to stop functioning. The set will work then after a while I can not operate any of the commands via remote or manually. The set will not turn off nor am I able to Reset the Micro. The only thing I can do is to unplug it and plug it back in. Then when I turn on the set it creates a quick pop (in the speakers) before continuing normal operations.

If you have had this unit for a while I would try vacuuming or blowing it out because it sounds like the issue you are having is due to heat building up in the unit. Also make sure you have adequate airflow around the unit in other words make sure you have at least 2-3 inches of clearance on all sides and nothing sitting on top of the unit.

I have the same issue! I found out that if I leave the unit on continuously this problem does not occur. If i turn it off and turn it back on to use it, then it does not accept any input of commands remotely or manually. Has something to do with a "hand shake" between devices.

Its not a heat issue but rather a firmware problem. After talking to two denon reps they said its a known problem and will need to be serviced. All thats required is for the shop to update the firmware.

I have a Denon avr 391 and it worked fine for 4 years. Now I cannot get any sound out of it. Any idea what's going on. Help

could be a bad headphone jack. There was a commong problem with denon receivers around that time where the headphone jack had contacts that would short and make the unit act like there were headphone plugged in even when there wasn't. Sometimes you can clear the error by inserting a headphone plug and unplugging it a couple times. If it continues to happen, then you can get the headphone jack replaced.

Sure it does:

Analog RCA cables go to anything available: DVD; SAT/CBL; DOCK
and/or
Digital audio goes to whatever is available: COAXIAL (SAT/CBL) or OPTICAL(TV)

My AVR 391 goes on Standby and freezes there.

Seems you cannot fix this issue yourself. If the unit is still under warranty, Denon will replace a chip which has a flawed firmware. The unit cannot be updated remotely and a physical repair is necessary.

Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).
