Just knowing that made me realize the problem had to be in the power cord and adapter then. It turns out after messing with it the male plug in part was just slightly loose and I had to adjust it barely.

But it was you answer that keyed me to the problems location. Appreciated and thank you.

Just connecting the power supply should switch it automatically from battery to AC. If it doesn't switch to line power a few seconds after you plug it in, then there may be a problem with your power supply or the DC jack in the laptop.

HP dv6 Lap top. Touch pad locked. How to unlock

Dear Harry,

The top-left area in your TouchPad, where there is a small hole with an indicator light is also an on-off touch switch that turns the TouchPad on and off.

So, press and hold this area for two seconds to turn the TouchPad on or off.

You can see it better in the picture below, extracted from the laptop manual that can be downloaded from the link at the bottom of this message:

Hp pavilion Dv 7 won't power on even when the lap top is charged.

Pull the battery and plug it in to the wall (in other words rule out the battery). If it still refuses to come on, check out this troubleshooting link:

Lap top will not turn on. receives power from the cord and power supply, but has no indicating lights on the lower left part of laptop. was able to get the lap top to operate after removing and...

Measure the voltage at the terminals of the battery in the laptop. If there is no supply then the power section in the lap tops main board is faulty and needs a check.
However if there is voltage then the battery must be checked if this has failed to charge and is defective. check if the cord from the adapter is not short as it will result in DC power cut off.

My lap top makes a snap nose and then truns off is it just the batterie or is could it be more just want to know if it's worth fixing it's a Hp pavilion n5350

It could jmust be the battery. When it happens, is your battery low? Does it happen if you have the lap top plugged in and not on battery power? If so, then it's not the battery.

My computer will not turn back on

Hi there.
Remove the battery and try to turn it on on AC power only, if it boots up there is a problem with battery, it just may not be charged up properly.
Please post back the results

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

My lap is broked

mucha suerte
