On our mitsubuishi vs-5041 50 inch there is a black box aroung the picture of the tv. I dont have the remote, so how do i get the television picture back?

Hello.
You can use buttons that are located in front of the TV as well.
Press "menu" button and locate "picture" or "video submenu. You can use some buttons as directional ( they have arrows that indicate where you can move highlighter on menu). To choose option you can press "Select/enter" button.
More info in your TV owner's manual.
Regards.
Russ.

Mitsubishi VS-50VA1

Go to http://www.remotes.com enter in the TV model number, and order it, as there is nothing that can be done in a case like this. You could try to borrow a remote from a local store to switch the set back to the tuner section or borrow an original remote from someone.
