Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

My GAF 2680 slide projector has a burned out DAT lamp. How do I remove it? I have tried pulling it straight up and also by twisting it but I can't seem to budge it either way. The unit has sat in a closet for a number of years and was running perfect until the light went out and I believe that it is the original bulb. The user manual must have been misplaced during one of our moves. I hope that you can help. V. Caruso

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Both the LAMP/COVER and FAN/TEMP indicator lights come on, not blinking

with both lights solid. according to the manual all it says is (there is an electrical failure inside the unit, please take to an authorized servicer). if you are able to do this yourself you will need the schematics and a voltmeter to start testing your voltages. your lamp is fine so dont waste your money replacing that anymore. if you would like the service manual send me an email to

SOURCE: Half inch black line down middle of sent & copies -is NOT SCANNER

the scanner will give you problems only when you send not receiving or incomings, it sounds like your corona wire and the grid needs to be clean this is part of the drum unit with a cute tip (you will need more than one) pull out the image unit and toner it's two pieces in one. you can clean the corona wire (corona wire is the thin wire that charge the drum unit with a positive charge located at the center of the drum unit and is thinner than a human hair and under that you will see the grid make sure all that section is cleaned. if you have compress air will help)
in my opinion you whent to far trying to check some other things that are not necesary.
hope this will help
any other questions please let me know.

How do i remove the bulb from a gaf 2100r slide projector

The bulb pulls out. You don't want to twist it, because it is seated with one big pin in the middle and four smaller ones around it. The big pin in the middle has a fin on it, to make sure you get the others in their right places.
To get the old one out, you want to remove the metal housing for the lens that surrounds the bulbs. Pinch the sides that are next to the open end of the housing a little bit and jiggle it. It'll come out fairly easy. Once that is out of the way, you can get a good grip on the bulb and pull it straight out.
As for new bulbs, you can find them on the Internet. The best price I last saw was for $27.

How do I change my projector lamp?

  1. Front Projector
    • 1 Disconnect the power cable from your projector. Allow it to cool for 30 to 60 minutes. Lay the projector upside down on a table.
    • 2 Remove the lamp cover, typically located on one of the rear corners of the projector's underside. Depending on your projector, you will either have to loosen a few Phillips screws or press on one or two plastic release tabs to remove the lamp cover.
    • 3 Loosen the screws holding the lamp assembly in place. Grab the assembly by the handle and slide it out of the projector.
    • 4 Slide a new lamp assembly into the projector. Don't touch the glass on the bulb because it will damage the bulb. Tighten the retaining screws on the lamp assembly and replace the lamp cover.
    • 5 Turn the projector right side up and reconnect the power cable. Power on your projector.
    Rear Projector
    • 6 Unplug the TV from the outlet. Let it cool for 30 to 60 minutes.
    • 7 Remove the lamp cover. On most rear projection TVs, the lamp cover is located on the right or left side of the TV's rear panel. Remove the cover by loosening the screws and pulling the cover away from the TV. Certain manufacturers, like Mitsubishi, have the lamp cover in the front of the TV, near the left speaker. To get to the cover, you must first use your fingers to pry off the front panel below the screen, revealing the speakers and lamp cover. Loosen the screws on the cover and pull it away from the TV.
    • 8 Remove the lamp assembly. Loosen its screws, grab the handle and slide it out of the TV. If you have a newer Sony model, there are no screws. Instead, press the release tab to unlock the lamp assembly and slide it out of the TV.
    • 9 Slide a new lamp assembly into the TV. Don't touch the glass on the assembly, as the oils in your fingers will damage the bulb. Tighten the screws or pop the retaining tab into place.

Replace the lamp cover and front panel, if necessary. Plug your TV back into the electrical outlet and power it on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Touching the lamp assembly before it has cooled can cause a nasty burn.
