You will have to make yourself the adminstrator

click start control panel user accounts on the users tab, click the name of the computer administrator you must have full control also you can change the password there

USB drives can be write-protected by modifying the StoreageDevicePolicies Registry key and WriteProtect Registry value.
click Start>run>regedit to open Registry Editor. and press control+F to open the find dialogue box and type "usb device" or "driverdesc" to open usb mass storage device or type "usb mass storage device" in the search windows. And right click on it and delete. This will set the policy value to 0. then insert your usb device. It will work fine.
# Remember: do not delete any unknow files in the registry as this will make some programes not work as usual.

also
If you are running a Windows XP OS then you might be able to:

- click start right click on my computer select open
- Right click the icon of your Flash Drive (It should be F:/ or something)
- Click Properties in the menu that comes up
- Click the Sharing tab
- Click permissions
- And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Cant boot up EMachines T3882 no quick boot and f8 does nothing, what do i do?

If you can't get into the bios, you can't start a repair, when it's booting, continually press F2 to get the bios up, if that does nothing reboot an continualy press Del, this is for the bios menu and set the cd drive as first boot device.

If not continually press F8 on boot up this is safe mode, then when youre in highlight last known good configuration and press Enter.

Give this a try as your pc will not be set to boot from cdrom as default and will just try to boot into windows.

2. Under the BIOS setting, make sure that the hardrive is detected (set to enhance mode), this will detects either SATA or PATA., Exit and Save new setting

Bios not recognizing new hardrive

Hi:
Some older laptops don't always recognize the full size hard drives bigger than 134 Gb, but they usually show up in your bios. There isn't an easy way to install it wrong, so if the drive wasn't new to you, it might have a problem...New Hard drives come with installation CD's, but that won't do you any good until the drive is recognized

NEED WIZ"S HELP- CANT BOOT XP OR VISTA CD FROM DVD DRIVE

Hello,

I'll give a whack at this problem. I think the previous person meant blank drive NOT black drive (that doesn't make sense to me).
I would follow the previous persons in going to BIOS and making sure the first boot device is CDROM. My question to you is whether you've already done this or whether you need assistance with this process. If so, please tell me what computer model you have.

first you must check your XP/Vista cd if it is bootable then open the bios setting change the first boot to CD ROM save and exit the bios insert CD wait for a second if the CD is BOOTABLE if so then follow the instructions of formating drive. But before you do that you must be sure that you have all the driver need to you PC for security you must use the black drive then install the XP OS.

Want to reinstall to factory settings

As the pc is booting press F2 or Del (dependant on bios) and enter bios set up.
Choose to make your cdrom as first boot device, save settings and exit bios.

Insert cd drive before the boot up starts and there will be a screen prompt to "press enter to boot from cd", press enter and then the cdrom will go to the next step, asking press 'R' to repair or press 'Enter' to format and install windows, choose repair if you have documents you need on your pc.

The system will then go through a full repair installation, when complete your system will be repaired and everything should be as before with nothing lost.

You may have a faulty hard drive so if you cannot get windows to repair it will tell you theres no drive found.

Problem in acer aspire 5630

- is the BIOS set to boot from the hard drive ?
- have u changed any drive setting in BIOS (sata mode, pata mode ...)
- try to boot with a linux live cd, or with the vista dvd and see if they can see the drive ... if thay can, than most probably a reinstall of the OS would fix the problem, if not , check the BIOS settings, also make sure that the drive is properly fixed in it;s place, if posible test it on another laptop to be sure if it;s causing the probems or not ...
