Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I am 74 years old, and building 4 computrs for handi-capped kids in our area. My problem: I have never had this before. I cannot boot anything on any of my pc's, . I have bought replacement parts for all 4. such as motherboards, ram, graphic cards, hard drives, processors, etc. Nothing helps, I'm at wits end.Any ideas? I've even taken working parts from other computets, nada! On social security, I pay for all this and no charge to the kids, sometimes I get donations of cash or parts, right now I just need help and advice !! Power is getting to my keyboard as the lights flicker when I turn it on, but thats it, also lots of vibrations in hard drives and roms, green lights on motherboards. Maybe it's my ex-mother-in-law haunting me from her grave, TEE HEE" If you have any ideas I will put you in my will, ( net worth, about 17 cents, haha) Thanks, my name is Jim email:

When you say you can not boot anything, do you see anything on the screen when you boot it up? Is there an os on the hard drive? Can you hit either f2 or the del key on boot and get into the bios Settings?

I finally got my power switch working and wiring hooked up. Now my processor fan works, and I can turn it on and off from the front. still nothing on my screen. I've tried 15 hard drives and 26 graphic cards, 14 different power supplies, 32 sticks of ram, bench tested and in 8 towers, 6 keyboards, 18 processors, 10 heat sinks and fans, lost count on bad words, (lol), and I'm still looking at black screen on monitor, oh yeah, 5 monitors and miles of ribbons ( cables). Can't get bios, or anything to come up on screen! I tried parts deom working pc's now they don't work either?? Crazy huh? Let me know if you think I'm crazy (tee hee) but I have others trying to help me here. This has broke me,sorry I can't send you any money at this time, Once a month ssa. Thanks for loaning me your shoulder tonight, JIM

Will an old piece of !!!!! "": dodge 1973 tioga moterhome be able to produce a trouble code for its major malfunctions ????

Are you kidding? Only if it was altered by IBM, maybe. Your first impression was accurate- it's straight mechanics from thereon. I believe Chrysler was the first to come out with electronic ignition in the early '70s, and that was a major step. You know, before that was the old mechanical breaker points sets. Ford played catch-up for years, first with a transistorized ignition (partially electronic ignition) for '74 & '75 or '75 & '76, and then arranging and re-arranging the duraspark ignition system, until engine computers in the early '80's. And that is so with your dodge, I believe: there were no engine computers in '73. Pretty much old style mechanics. I'd say you were lucky, except I know what gas guzzlers those things were !

Do you need to update the gps at all

The only thing you need to do (maybe) is to update the maps. make sure its maps cover the region where you will be traveling, otherwise it won't be of any help. Since roads do change over the years it is possible that your map may be inaccurate somewhere. If you are unlucky to find yourself in such an area, an old-fashioned road atlas or an area map might come in handy.

Dewalt D51822 nail gun does not fire nail. When trigger is pulled air can be felt coming from the trigger area. I have replaced the trigger valve assembly and it had no effect. Gun is about 3 years old...

There are 4 orings that cause this problem. Two are in the trigger valve installed on the firing pin. The firing pin can be seen just under the trigger, however if you replaced the valve, you could assume no problems with the trigger valve. I would take apart the old trigger valve and examine the orings on the pin. The pin should fit snugly in the trigger valve cap and also in the valve. If the orings look good and it does fit snugly, most likely valve is still good. The other two orings to suspect are installed on the cylinder inside the nailer and make contact with the bulkhead (white plastic piece that seals the cylinder note parts reference 55, 74, 11 on the parts list). For parts list and to order parts go to Good luck with your repair.

I am 74 years old i have a atari with 4 games ie space invaders ect is it worth anything to a collector or yourselves i am interested on your veiws peter

Yes, your video game system is indeed worth money.

Depending on if you still have the original boxes and stuff for the game system, this could be worth $200 or more!

I have seen the machine by itself on eBay, without game cartridges and they still are asking $100.
And this is without the boxes.

So as you can see, old doesn't mean not worth anything.

I hope this helps you out, and have a good day !

the same way you do on any other car. you pull the owner's manual out of the gloevbox, hand it and a five dollar bill to a 14 year old kid. he looks up the instructions and sets your clock. keep his phone number handy as you will need it twice a year forever.

I have a 15 year old Zenith console, SL2737RK, lost vertical defl

You need to resolder the vertical IC and replace any electrolytic caps in the same immediate area. If you can find someone with electronics experience they know what I'm saying....It can be repaired.

Older Frigidare Elite Dryer conversion

You'll have to contact Frigidaire to see if a conversion kit is available. Normally, it's just an orifice replaced on the gas valve.
