Question about Televison & Video
Hi, Yes I suggest repairing the remote. It is not very difficult. rmeotes have just a few thing that " can " go wrong due to their nature. Almost all problems come from some form of what';s classified as abuse ( most of the time we think of it as normal wear and tear ) Not a big problem. If you drop your remote It may shake loose the inner workings of what's called a " ceramic filter "-once that happens the remote will rattle from that area but will not operate. If you spill almost anything on the keypad area it is possible to freeze up the remote by having no contact with the buttons and motherboard. and thirdly-if the remote was ever stored for an extended amount of time with batteries intalled they may have leaked leaving behind a greenish residue on " Battery terminals " which can impede power. cleaning can solve that. Those are what afflict the common remote. Dis-assembly is acheived by unscrewing the case probably from inside the battery compartment somewhere-then some "Gentle " prying at the seams and they "pop" open pretty readily. cleaning the keypad just takes some rubbing alcohol from some where, " Prep Pads " work well for this clean the backside of the key's-and shiny little maze like patterns which are the contacts. then gently dry and if after that if still not working check for ceramic filter ( it will be a pastel color-green, blue, orange ) it may resemble a smaller and squarer chiclet. it will be connected to " circuit board with 2 leads, if it has any rattle it will need replacing. Most of the time they are interghangeable from one remote to the next. that about covers what could be wrong, good luck I hope this helped, Prodzilla
