Hi dianelangber,

There are two common possible causes why your ice maker never stop making ice.

1. The bucket thermostat which cuts out when enough ice has been made is faulty. This will need replacement.

2.The plastic arm that rides on a cam is broken. To check this remove the plastic cover over the front panel. Then, remove the control panel to inspect. If you want to try, you may cut a head off a small nail that has the same size of the broken arm and glue this onto the broken arm.

If these will not work it could be the ice maker is already faulty but you try working on first on what I mentioned above.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Icemaker stopped working suddenly. Water supply is working fine.Ice freezes but will not dump into bin.

Good day,
If the ice maker is the style with a wire to turn it off and on, and is in the down position, then the ice maker is bad, as long as the temperature in the freezer is 12 degrees or colder.
(The ice maker locks out at about 14 degrees or warmer.).

You can replace the module, and thermostat in the the ice maker, but could be as well the mold heater.
The price of repair is so close to a complete ice maker, that it doesn't pay to repair.

You might want to get the complete model number. Check with any decent size appliance parts house, they should have what you want, if going to Sears is an issue.

I have water leaking from the lower left rear side of my Kenmore Elite side-by-side with the ice maker ON.The leaking stops by turning the ice maker off-the water dispenser works fine with the ice maker on...

there are 2 pipes going from the pump at the bottom of your unit ... 1 to the ice maker and the other to the filter for water.
make sure the pip for the ice make is tight in the connector of the valve ... let me know...

Ice maker not making ice. do have water, no ice

The ice maker has a problem The ice maker is a separate appliance within the freezer section. Please see the How things Work section of our website to learn about the normal functioning of ice makers. Some common problems with ice makers are:

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice
The ice maker is producing ice poorly
The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

Water from ice makers leaks and builds up in botom of freezer

ice maker leaks are usually a sign of icemaker mold corrosion eating the lining off the icemaker causing it to leak. the only repair is to replace the complete icemaker. you will need a complete model number from the unit and the part can be ordered online thru whirlpool or some of the other appliance parts sites. you may even have a local parts warehouse where you live. hopw that helps peyton

LG Ice maker

I got the same problem where the plate is cold and the water does not fill - saw this comment from other posting and help. Basically, the ice maker was stalled! Make sure you can see the green light is on, which means you have power. if its lit, press and hold the cube size button until i/m starts to cycle. If i/m runs, but does not fill then your water valve is bad. If i/m will not start then your i/m is at fault.

Ice Maker

I would be happy to help. When you say it stop dispensing, do you mean it didn't drop the ice into the bucket or it didn't dispense thru the door? Also, make sure the arm on the icemaker is completely down. Fridgidaire has had some problem with the arm not coming down all the way and leaving it in the off position. Let me know so I can help.
