There are two screws on the switch. Connect a black to a screw on the switch, it doesn't matter which black wire or to which screw, pick one. The other black wire is connected to the remaining screw. Both white wires are twisted together under a wirenut and are not connected to the switch.

How to wire light switch?

ok! only hook up the switch to the black wires and cap the 2 whites together. just run 12/2 wiring with ground to switch, hook the black to switch in and black to switch out to light.. cap the white wires to and from switch! you can either hook ground wire to switch or the steel switch box. hope this helps, im not very good with words.

Have dual light switches - one for fan one for lights on fan. incoming to box is white (neutral) black(hot) then out to switches two sets of w/b. fan has one each of the white, black blue(lights). How do...

From your switch box to your fan run a 14/3 wire. Take the incoming 14/2 white wire, and connect to white of the 14/3 wire to fan lite combo ,and hook both white wires from fan and lite. Hook the fan black wire to the black wire from the 14/3 Hook the black wire from the fan to the red wire from the 14/3. Then go back to the switches, and add a black and red pigtail about 4"long to the black wire from the 14/2, now connect the red wire to one side of switch, and the other red wire from the 14/3 to the other side of switch. Do the same to the black wire on the other switch.

I have a Leviton single pole rocker switch grnd, pilot light back and side wired #5628-2W i am trying to hook it up so light is on when switch is on i have 2 black wires 2 white wires and 1 ground wire how...

easy one first: ground wire to green screw. We have to assume the two black wires are the hot(coming from power source) and switch leg(going to light). Switch will have two brass colored screws. Looking at the switch with the off/on markings right side up. Put hot wire on upper screw and switch leg on other brass screw, With nothing hooked up, the hot wire will be the only wire with voltage on it. You can buy a non-contact voltage tester at Lowes or any place that sells electrical supplies. Now we must assume the two white wires are neutrals(one coming from power source and one going to light. The pilot light part of the switch will either have a silver colored screw or a white pigtail on it. all whites hook together. The pilot light is wired internally to the switch leg. Your switch should work properly now.

4 lamp t5 fixture, 1 black wire, 1 white wire, 1 red wire. how do I wire this

Don't forget this is a 240v appliance so it must be fed from a 240v circuit breaker. Once you have a 240v circuit breaker you need to run 12/3 wire with ground from circuit breaker to a box near your fixture. The 12/3 wire with ground will have; 1 black, 1 white, 1 red and a bare ground wire. With the circuit breaker OFF, hook the wires up respectively to the same colors and ground the bare wires togather with a green ground screw in the box. Turn circuit breaker on.

Two function control switch. Broan nu-tone

Oh Boy! ...Oh Boy! Lol...:) Put the Earth/Ground, (usually green and yellow) wire in the on screw side.

Then, get the Fan's black wire, and connect with the Light's white wire,...then put it in the any one of the Screws, (usually a hole where you put a wire through and screw down to hold. Golden ~ like in color).

Then, get the other Fan's white wire, and connect with the Light's black wire, then put in the other Screw hole. :)

And Whala :)

Hello,
Hook the black wire from one switch to the fan and the black wire from the other to the light. Then hook all of the white wires together.
This will get you working like you want it too.

WIRING DIAGRAM

The light box in your ceiling should have two or three wires. Black and White, or Red, Black and White.

If you have two wires (one switch to control everything):
Black is power - hook this to the fan's power wire (and the fan's light wire if applicable)
White is neutral - hook this to the fan's neutral wire.

If you have three wires (two separate switches):
Red is power for the light - hook this to the fan's light wire if applicable
Black is for the fan - hook this to the fan's motor
White is neutral - hook this to the fan's neutral wire.
