Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console

1 Answer

We think there is something wrong with the video and audio plugs, that go into the tv. But were still not sure. The playstation does turn on we can hear it. But it will not appear on the tv. When I say we can hear the playstation, we can hear the sound of the machine itself, not the main menu noise.

Hello, To test what the problem is, I would recommend finding a friends whole also has a PlayStation 2. Offer good company and maybe lunch to bring his/ hers PlayStation 2 over. I would then attempt to plug in the friends PlayStation 2 into your TV and attempt to play a game, If It does work then you know the problem lies in your personal PlayStation, If it does not work then the problem could lie within the TV's internals, Possible the component connections. Assuming the game does play on your Tv, I would recommend using some tape to mark your friends cords, console and power supply (don't want to mix them up) and then start by using your friends Cords one at a time to see if you can get your console working properly. Probable can skip the power supply because you mentioned you can hear the driver start.

Best Wishes and Good luck!!!

Try plugging something like a dvd or vcr into those ports of the TV, that will tell you if the tv is reading the PS3 wrong or the video is dead on your TV.

It is compatible. The yellow cable is the video portion of the input and the white is the audio portion of the input. When you do this and switch the video mode or change the channel to number 3, it should work

There is no sound on the ps2 but i do get perfect picture on the alba tv

Check both sides of the audio/video cable connection. Make sure the red/white cables are plugged in to the proper red/white components on the TV (You may have more than one, and may have plugged the audio in the wrong input). If your TV allows input from separate audio sources, make sure it's set to accept audio from the PS2. You can also make sure the video/audio cable is plugged in fully in the back of the PS2.

PS2 SCPH-50000 NO AUDIO AND VIDEO WHEN TURN ON.. ALL LIGHTS ARE WORKING THE FAN SPIN WELL SAME AS THE DVD INSERTED....CAN SOME ONE HELP ME TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?.....

No audio or video would indicate a connection problem with your Playstation 2. Either your TV is not on the right input or you have a problem in the wiring. Check your connections and make sure the TV is on the right input. If you're plugging it into a home theater system, try plugging it directly into the TV.

Try this:

While the PS3 is off (solid red led) hold down the power button until you hear the SECOND BEEP, quickly release power button, hold your breath ;)

How do i set up my old playstation 1???

Hi,

Connect the cables to the ports on the back of the PlayStation console marked "audio out" and "video out." Make sure to match the same-coloucoloured plugs on the cables and the ports - yellow to yellow, red to red, white to white.

Connect the other ends of the audio/video cables to the ports on the back of the television or VCR marked "audio/video input.

Connect the AC power cord to the PlayStation game console and plug it into a wall socket for power.

Turn on the television, VCR (if included in the connection) and PlayStation console.

Press a button on the remote control to access the audio/video inputs for your television or VCR. The button will be labeled "video," "aux," "auxiliary," "tuner" or "line TV/video." You may need to set your television or VCR to channel 00, 90, 91 or 92. If the remote control does not have the buttons described here, check the product's instruction manual.

Regards.

Audio problems

Go into the audio menu and make sure the speakers are turned on. If they are, there is something wrong inside the set. Have it checked out.

PS3 Power Surge Help!

hi there try using the ps3 as audio-cd play(blind, without screen)
with any other tv to make sure soun still is coming...
if there was a flash or circuit destroyíng the yellow(video)plug,
either the cable has been destroyed or the short backfired even into the video module of the psx3.
try exchanging the cable, if that doesn't do any good, the video module got smoked...

let a technician repair/replace it or you think about becoming the happy owner of another brand new psx3

good luck!

No display on my Ps3

Two or more things, first make sure you have your audio vidio cables correct

Yellow= Video
Red= Audio right
White Audio left

Also make sure that the tv matches the input your cables are connected into. I would make sure the restart the PS3 to make sure the video is good (after checking the tv input)
