Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

We have an NEC LCD TV model number NLT-32HDB2. It has been working fine, and I turned it off with the remote last night as usual. This morning the red light below the screen was flashing, and the TV wouldn't start. I turned it off at the wall, waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on. Rather than the single red light, an orange light was flashing, and the TV wouldn't turn on.

Thanks for your advice. I have had it turned off now for about half an hour, so I'll turn it back on later this morning and see what happens. However, my guess is that it is a problem with the power supply board, which means I'll need a repairman. :( Thank you anyway for your help.

Well it didn't fix the problem but at least we know what is probably wrong and can get a technician in.

Hello,

If your TV won't turn on, then it means it having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

Turn it of at the wall and wait for about one hour again. If that doesn't do the fix, then it is actually having a power problem.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Have a NEC TV Model NLT-32HDI & One For All remote control but none of the code numbers in manual work. Are there other code numbers for this model NEC TV?

try a different remote control unit. Make sure the batties are fresh. Make sure that you are close enough to the tv. Make sure nothing is blocking between the light senser and the remote conrol. Make sure the light senser on the tv is NOT being blinded by direct sunlight. there are normally two ways to program a remote by the manual, one is automatic the other is by code. you could also just order another remote control that came with the tv.

Looking for amanual for NEC RS-32PX tv

The NEC RS-32PX is a remote control. It was included with the NLT-19HDB4 TV. Additional TVs may have come with the remote. The manual for this NLT-19HDB4 is here: http://ernie.awa.com.au/ArticleDocuments/1288/NLT-19HDB4.pdf.aspx with the remote details on page 5 (page 5 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

Hello,
You can fix this, all that is needed is to carefully understanding the electronics parts used and having little of basic knowledge in electronics.
The problem is in either power supply or the Y sustain board. The Y sustain board is are relatively large board if out of which go connections to the side of the display , it therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display , has at least one rather large heat sink on it and far power cables connecting it to the mains power supply .
Often there are fuses on that board , one or more , check them
If they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again , usually the whole board needs to be replaced.
Often that need to be done in a service center as there are some adjustment to be made after replacement.

No picture no sound

Hi!

It sounds like you have a power supply problem! You will probably find some bad caps (capacitors) on the board. They will look bulged on the top an may be a little leaky (brownish stain). In addition check the ribbon that feeds the lcd controller.
