Question about Health & Beauty

My cat tipped over the litter box (the clumping kind) onto the carpet and urinated on it while I was gone. Not much, just enough to have some litter clump into my carpet. My dad is coming over tomorrow. What can I buy that will remove this from my carpet, today?

I hope you managed to vacuum it away but the smell of urine could encourage your cat to wee there again.
White vinegar works...If your carpet isn't affected colour wise.
good luck

Keeping your cats litter box smelling fresh

If your cats litter box is not cleaned every day, or the litter is not changed frequently, the odor will build up. Here are some tips that will help you keep litter box odor at a minimum:

Never put your cats litter box in your own bathroom. The best location for a litter box is in a small closet; preferably somewhere you keep your cleaning supplies.

Avoid using hooded litter boxes. No matter how clean you keep it, the hood will trap odors.

Try lining the bottom of the litter box with a thin layer of baking soda.

Opt for a clumping cat litter. They make it easier to remove waste.

Use a litter box deodorizer.

Be diligent about cleaning the litter box and area surrounding it

The following is a great brand of litter that neutralizes odors upon contact with moisture. I have noticed a difference since we started using it.

How to install these cat pan liners

I hate those liners, the cat usually moves them around or scratches holes in them. I use World Best Cat litter and never have to throw out the litter. It clumps well and never drops to the bottom like a lot of other litter.

Which litter box brand is the best?

It all comes down to your cat to make the final choice. Once you find a brand that your cat likes, stick with it. It may take some time searching for the right exact brand that suit your cat but it is totally worth it.

I would really like my cat to have a clean litter box throughout the day. Do self-cleaning litter boxes really work? If so, this could be a worthwhile investment.

I would recommend you check out the LitterMaid litter box. It has two sensors on either side of the box that detect when a cat uses it. After 10 minutes, a rake automatically comes and scoops clumps of solid and liquid waste into a disposable container at the end of the litter box. Keep in mind that this does not eliminate you cleaning the box.

My dog keeps eating the litter out of my cats litter box. What can I do to put an end to this?

There are a few things you can do to prevent your dog from being attracted to your cats litter box. First and foremost, you should try to remove your cats waste as quickly as possible. You can also try sprinkling some meat tenderizer onto your cats food before ingestion. This will help make the smell of your cats ***** less enticing to your dog. Lastly, I would recommend placing your cats litter box somewhere that your dog cannot reach it; possibly by raising the litter box or placing it in a room only accessible through a small cat door.

Why is clumping cat litter better than clay litter?

Neither one is better than the other, they are based on preference. More people prefer to use clumping cat litter. Although clay litter is cheaper and absorbs well, clumping cat litter offers more advantages in my opinion. Clumping cat litter is much friendlier to the environment, seeing as you do not need to throw away the whole litter box every time your cat releases waste. It is easy to dispose of your cats waste products and helps to diminish the amount of odors.

What are the different types of cat litter?

The two most popular types of cat litter are clay and clumping; however there are a few other types that are less popular but still good. Other litter types include biodegradable materials such as plant resources, wood and paper. The newest type of cat litter is called silica. It consists of silica beads/pellets that can absorb your cats ***** without you having to scoop.
