The controller has one of two problems.

  1. The controller has something inside of it that is causing the buttons to stick and not work. To solve this you need to use a damp toothbrush and rub the controller to get whatever it is that is in it out. After doing that you will need to leave the controller out over night to dry. Do not leave the battery pack in.
  2. The controller may be broken. After long periods of use, the wiring inside the controller could become loose and the connections become disconnected. If this has happened, the controller is broken and unfeasible to fix.

On the Xbox 360 S console, each connected controller is assigned to one of four positions. Each position corresponds to a lighted section around the console power button and the controller Guide button. On the 360 E console, a solid green light on the front of the console indicates that the controller is connected. To determine the player position associated with your accessory, look at the ring of light that surrounds the Guide button on the controller.

You can also use the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit or the Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit to power the controller. Learn more about Xbox controllers and chargers.
To connect additional controllers, follow these same steps again. You can connect up to four controllers to the console. Each connected controller is assigned a position that corresponds with the lighted sections that appear around the console's power button and around the Guide button located in the middle of each controller.
  • To disconnect a wireless controller, press and hold the Guide button for three seconds, and then choose to turn the controller off.
  • When you turn off the console, the controller will reconnect the next time you turn on the console.
  • The controller can be connected to only one console at a time. You can connect the controller to a different console, but the connection to the previously connected console will be lost.

The second controller won't work with my xbox360 so that 2 of us can play

Your second controller is probably not synchronized with the xbox. there is a small white button on the top of the controller. Press and hold it until the lights on the xbox guide button starts to glow and spin (only works if the controller is on). Then press and hold a small white button located on your xbox located to the left of the xbox power button, it will light up and do the same. The xbox and the controller will find each other.

Note that I am talking about the old white version of the xbox. For the new xbox slim you press the small black button next to the USB ports on the front.

Hope this helps : )

Xbox won't turn on the tv errror#8004005

Guide button doesn't work or USB port is old. On some older 360s (ones refurbished) one of the USB ports on the front is damaged, sometimes both. If the guide is damaged just use the start button. If the USB ports are ruined use the one on the back.
