Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Not sure if vcr is recording

Best to use a new vhs tape. The old one or used one might be write protected. That means someone has recorded and knocked out the peice of plastic on the back of the vhs to prevent recording again.

SOURCE: pixilization on non hd channels with hdmi cable

Your TV is not at fault, it is showing you the difference between HD and non HD channels. HD TV's work great with HD scorces but don't usually look that great with standard definition, Also the non-HD channels are more likely to be heavily compressed which makes them look bad too.

Testimonial: "You know, I think you're right. The cable company would never actually say that their service is flawed. They blamed the TV. Thanks anyway!"

How to convert VCR to DVD

no easy way to do this unfortunately. You either need to connect your VCR to a DVD recorder and record it directly onto DVD or use a device such as this http://www.dx.com/p/easycap-usb-video-capture-adapter-5707 to connect your VCR to your computer and record it onto your computer that way.

Tevion tdr930

The TDR930 does not have a digital tuner. It handles the PAL and NTSC video signals. You need to connect it to a set top box and then record on the Line In (composite video) input. The set top box could be a cable, satellite or digital-to-analog OTA converter. Since the DVD recorder can't record HD signal, the regular SD output converter box connected to an antenna will be good.

I wish that I had better news for you.

The VCR/DVD combo that you purchased will be able to record what you wish to a VHS tape at low quality or to a DVD at a higher quality.

  1. Coax cable (round and screw on) from the antenna to VCR/DVD
  2. Coax/AV/HDMI cable (only need 1) from the VCR/DVD player to TV
  3. TV on and turned to the input matching the cable you used in step 2
  4. Turn on VCR/DVD and use the remote control included with this unit. Not the TV's
  5. Turn it to the channel 11 on the VCR/DVD
  6. Put in a VHS tape or DVD-R to record onto
  7. You will be able to hit record whenever the show comes on or used timed recording in the menu to schedule it ahead of time

Hip shot: No one let's you record digital audio onto analog equipment (yet).

On looking at Page 26 of the manual, that is verified. (See the Notes). Use only the analog audio and it will probably work for you. The A/D switch decides which you will use.

You might need a splitter (about 3 bucks at walmart) attach the Antenna to the side of the splitter with only one connection. Connect an RF cable to each of the remaining 2 connections. Run one wire to the DVR and the other to the TV. You can then watch one channel, and record on the other at the same time. You might not be able to record in HD if the recorder is not an HD recorder. Regular DVD recorders only record up to 500 lines, HD is rated at 720 or 1080 lines
