Question about Belkin (F5D8235-4) Wireless Router

1 Answer

I had a linksys wireless router that worked fine with my computer and samsung blue ray player. The router is in the basement (that's the only place the cable signal is srong enough for the internet) and my blue ray and computer are on the floor right above in the same room. My computer can get on the internet just fine but the blue ray player cannot find a signal to connect to netflix.

I have the same setup. My router is in the basement right below as well. Nothing works better than direct wiring... if you can, consider drilling a hole in the floor (near the wall) behind the TV and BluRay, and run an ethernet cord directly from the player to the router. Ethernet cables are cheap as dirt online, and not too bad at big stores like Home Depot.

WRT120N Linksys router will not connect to Vizio Wireless Blue Ray Player. Need to lower the security to connect to Blue Ray Player.

If anything it's the other way around; the blue ray player needs to connect to the wireless router / access point. Can the blue ray player be configured to work with a WEP/WPA/WPA2 secured network? Check the owner manual or go through the setup menus to see if there's a way to set up a new wireless network and configure the password for your wireless network on the blueray player. The other thing to check is to see if the router is filtering based on MAC address. You can probably disable that feature without losing much security since MAC addresses are easily spoofed.

I want to connect a wireless internet to my samsung blu ray BD P1500, how shoudl I do?

Unfortunately, this player has to use a wired network. (The Samsung WIS09 Wireless USB Adaptor is not compatible with the BD-P1500; it is compatible with the P1600.) Most wireless routers have a 4-port switch built in. If you can position your router in a place where the computers in your network can find the signal but gives you an easy wire run, do so with RJ-45 Cat5e or Cat 6 cable. Otherwise, you will need to run cable in the walls, in an attic or in a basement/crawlspace or use a second unit (wireless router (that can work as a switch), wireless switch or bridge with RJ-45 ports) to connect the TV to the primary router. Running cables will depend on your home, this can be easy or hard.

I hope this helps.

(In general I prefer wired networks. There is much less trouble-shooting for signal loss. Adding an extra switch adds to the issue.)

Get a Wireless Access Point ($30-$50 average). A wire from WAP to the Blu-Ray player should work like a charm. The WAP pretty much takes your wireless connection and transforms it back to a wired Ethernet connection for devices like this. You can have your Wireless Router on one side of your house and the WAP on the other, right next to your blu-ray player with a short Ethernet connection between the two. The player will just see it as a standard Ethernet connection.

Usually the default password is admin with no username . If that didnt work , the only option you can do is reset the unit to factory default.
It will reset your password but also reset your router to factory settings. You will need to setup again your router to connect to the internet.

Have a linksys router and a samsung wi-fi blue ray ... can't get it set up so that we can download movies ... Help ...

do you have encryption turned on? I thought about buying a samsung blue ray player and read that one issues is it does not support long keys (26 characters).

Plus, if you get the cheapest version that says wifi capable (like I did), when you get home you will realize that you need to spend another $80 for the samsung USB wireless adapter. If you want to use BD live, then you have to spend more money to get 2GB of RAM. So if you have a 1600 return it and buy a 3600.

Slow connection speed

Blu Ray players, draw alot of interference into the wireless router. Try moving your router into a different place, or somewhere away from your Blu Ray player.

Blue Ray connection to Belkin G router

your wireless router is encrypted. To remove encryption, go in your computers web browser: http://192.168.0.1
That will take you to your LAN Administrator.
Follow the simple wireless setup for an unsecured connection or setup your blue ray connection and create your own passphrase or WEPKey.
Hope that helped!
