Hi Bobby You will need to get an OS X installation DVD. Try eBay.Don't go for anything lower than 10.4 (Tiger)10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) should run fine on this machine.Don't bother with 10.7 or 10.8
Apple recommends that if you wish to go from 10.4 to 10.6 then you should purchase the 10.6 Box Set.
System Requirements to run Snow Leopard:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of memory
5GB of available disk space
DVD drive for installation
Snow Leopard Installation Instructions:
Just insert the DVD in the optical drive.
Restart your Mac while holding down the C key.
You will be guided through the installation procedure and be prompted at one point to choose which install option you want.
Once the Snow Leopard install is completed the Mac will restart itself.
You will probably be asked to register with Apple upon restart.
Enjoy Snow Leopard on your Mac!
Q: Can I upgrade directly from Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)?
A: Yes. Apple recommends purchasing the Mac Boxed Set for this
purpose, which will also update iLife (it is unknown at the time of this
writing whether older versions of iLife work with Snow Leopard) and
iWork. Also note that while it has been said that the $29 upgrade will
work with 10.4, it is not officially supported and may be in violation
of the licensing terms.
Q: What happened to the different install options? Can't I do an Archive & Install?
A: Apple has revamped the familiar installation options for Mac OS X.
You now have two choices, either a straight upgrade or a clean
install. Supposedly if you choose to do a straight upgrade, what
actually goes on behind the scenes is what was traditionally known as an
Archive & Install.
Q: Is there anything I can do to better prepare myself for the upgrade?
A: Yes. It is advisable to run a Verify/Repair Permissions and
Verify/Repair Disk in Disk Utility. You may also want to run the
maintenance tasks in Onyx. And finally, it would be wise to get your applications up to date using a program like AppFresh.
I had the same problem. Upgraded from G5 PowerPC Tiger OS to iMac Snow Leopard. Have a Snapscan 1236U (ScanWise) and got the same error message ("cannot find the current ColorSync System Profile"). Downloaded trial version of VueScan (www.hamrick.com) , scanner worked, so purchased the VueScan Professional Edition ($79.99) (Standard Version is $39.99). My scanner is now working GREAT!
The first thing that you need to do is to verify if your Olympus P-440 is if it's supported by Mac OSX 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). If yes, make sure that you've installed the correct driver for Snow Leopard.
This link contains a driver for Mac OSX. I assume that this driver will work with all OSX (starting from Tiger to Snow Leopard). If this driver will not help, you may need to contact the manufacturer, and verify the system requirements of your printer.

If you are referring to locked in regards to your user administrator account, all you have to do is take your Mac OS X installation disc and run the Password Reset utility to reset your password and gain access back into your Macbook Air once again. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
BOOT TO TIGER/LEOPARD or SNOW LEOAPRD DISK- • Place your installation Disk (Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard) into your drive and allow it to load. • Restart your Mac • As soon as you hear the Apple Chime, press the "C" key on your keyboard and hold it. • You will see a White Screen, Grey Apple first, do not release the C key until you see a Spinning gear. • Once you see that Spinning gear, release your C key and allow the disc to continue loading
- RESETTING ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD- (Works for both Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard))
• When the booting to the Mac OS X disc is completed, you will now be in the Installer environment • Enter to next page, look up on upper left corner you should see "Installer" near the Apple menu. • Two spaces over you should see Utilities. Click Utilities>Reset Password.
• Select your user name from the drop down list and reset your password.
• When you are done, simply exit the Reset Password and Installer and reboot.
• At the Login window, enter your new password and you should be back into your home profile.
You will not find drivers for this old scanner. Sorry but this scanner is not compatible with Tiger, Leopard, or Snow Leopard, and HP offers no drivers other than for OSx 8.0 & 9.0 which are 10 years old. Time to purchase a new scanner.
Some manufacturers have not caught up and updated their drivers for snow leopard yet. You gots ta be patient and wait a couple months or call the manufacturer and ask for a comparable driver that will run off snow leopard. Go back to the previous OS if that was working your printer. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.
Generally if your printing postscript, you don't need to update the drivers on a Mac. But there are new drivers available for download on the website here. that said, there is not any difference between the Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard versions of the driver...or much difference in the Linux driver for that matter. If what you have works, don't obsess over upgrading. They all work.
